I heard some amazing albums, but finally being able to expand my prog collection beyond the Genesis/Yes/JT/DT albums they have at the local record store was the best discovery of all

My biggest discovery is that the bus number 4 go at the other end of the city 2 time faster that bus number 3 I used to take.
 
Beside that, I discovered almost all the prog band I know because I am a new Prog fan. Some band are really amazing!!! Just discovered spock's Beard and Gong this week!

Last year It was so pleasant for me Pekka's great album "Harakka Bialoipokku" was recommended by my Finn friend, but very sad soon Pekka had passed away...

Now I'm going to look like a raving amateur for what I am about to admit....,

but 2008 was the year I started to listen to Steve Hackett as a solo artist. ( Hangs head in shame ). Wild Orchids definitely 2 thumbs fresh.

Well, you've got a lot of work on your hands, I think you'll enjoy it though.  Might want to start at the beginning and save the '80's output for later...

This year I really began exploring prog rock. Camel, Focus, PFM, Soft Machine, and Caravan are just a few bands that I got into this year. Also, I had always known about Porcupine Tree, but this year I really got into them and now they're one of my favorite bands. Not so much of a discovery, more of an awakening. This has been an excellent year for me.

my biggest discovery has been 'Luba Mason' it was great to find out that she is the wife of Ruben Blades, and she is coming out with a new album 'Krazy Love' this year. you can listen to a few songs on her Myspace:
