A Squire model Stratocaster. Maybe it's because I'm not exactly an expert, but I think it sounds pretty great.

Anymore pics of the strat? It looks really cool with a H-S-H pickup configuration. |

Here's a clearer picture of it - unfortunately it was badly in need of a cleaning at the time this picture was taken:

What you do, you see, is get the following groupings of males in one room and wait for the sonic boom - Car enthusiasts (V8, Cubic Inches, Cram Overhead, yadda yadda), sports fans (Best ERA, this goalie had a better win-loss record, the zone defense vs the zone diet), musicians (I have a Benbson PL special with ten hum spoilling pickups through a "too many pedals to all list", into a modded Marshall head, and a Meda Cab), music nuts (Beethoven or the Beatles, how loud is too loud, why is today's music not as good as the one played when I was young)
Of course, all of the above are apt to turn into heated arguements as to what is better best or worst. With absolutely no lack of objective measures to make subjective claims. SO I just play the guitar in my hand. If it's electric, I usually plug it into an amp, which is now a tube one. I put a couple of pedals in front of that. Just like my idols ... Then I spend an hour trying to find a sound all my own before just playing AC/DC, Iron Maiden, les Colocs, Trust, Johnny Cash and Rush ... |

jplanet, I'm digging that strat.
I've always been kinda turned off by the white scratch plate look, but I really like how it looks with a black scratch plate against the blue (purple?) body. What does that toggle closest to the input jack do? Coil split? Edited by HughesJB4 - January 02 2009 at 05:01 |

I think that Fender calls the color Midnight Blue - it's a little hard to tell because that picture was taken in green-tinted lighting...I had the black pickguard put on at the same time I had the pickups and electronics re-done... That toggle is actually the tone control knob but with the knob missing - I've since put it back on - it's function is a push/pull to turn on the bridge humbucker in any pickup setting, so that when I have the neck pickup selected, I can get that twangy middle-Les Paul or Tele kind of sound. You can hear it being used on the chorus to "Find Your Way" at this url: (comes in at about 1:53 into the clip) http://www.shadowcircusmusic.com/audio Edited by jplanet - January 02 2009 at 13:27 |

I have a red hagstrom guitar, ES-335 like.
1958 Gibson hollow body
Custom guitar that I made, which I suppose is similar to a strat
A mid sixties hagstrom guitar, which kind of gives me some problems on a daily basis
Then I have an Alvarez accoustic(the most beautiful accoustic I've ever seen)
Alvarez 12 string
Fender acousitc
Theres probably more.

I have a LTD MH-1000 Deluxe, very very nice.
I also have a Schecter 7 String, also rather nice, for the Dream Theater stuff. And an 80s Washburn J-6 Hollowbody for the smoother stuff. And a Charvel Star, for the poncy fingertapping stuff. And a B.C.Rich Ironbird for the thrash stuff. And my own custom version of a V-Factor X. Although that's pretty naff. |

I think it's safe to say you're not an expert:P I honestly wouldn't touch a Squier with a 20 foot long pole if I didn't have too. The exception is the Showermaster series, which is now out of production unfortunately, the best guitars Squier made and the only ones worth buying IMO. |
