I just got the Zoom H2 Handy Recorder and its pretty great. It sounds really great. I play the drums and really needed a easy to use recorder and i got it for Christmas and now all i need is The M powered Pro tools 7, and that should help me with ideas in my band.

Big smile

I have no money for a recorder or an audio interface so I use the microphone on my digital camera. Ouch

I currently use Sony Soundforge. It's a great improvement over what I was using before.

Look up on youtube Sony vs. the Zoom H2 recorder.
You can really see the sound quality difference. The Sony couldn't stand up to the really loud noises, It garbles it all, where as the Zoom tones it down so it sounds good.

But i've never used Sony so i really wouldn't know, but the Zoom H2 is impressive and very user friendly. Smile

I believe Roland makes good portable recorders as well? I wouldn't know for sure, I have very limited experience in this field. I have however once used a zoom model and it sounded fine.

This thread belongs in the Tech Talk section, btw.

Moved this to Tech Talk.

I'm still using my old Tascam 788 - a bit bulky, but it is an 8-channel DAW and is fairly versatile.

What?

Really poor at the moment, so just a Behringer V-amp 2 amp modeling/multi effects, going through the line in.
Once some money comes together, I'll get myself a Line 6 POD X3 Live. Or if I can get a good deal, a POD X3 Pro, since they are just so kick ass looking.

H2 $199.99 tops or check online for cheaper,
Pro Tools M powered 7 300 bucks

The H2 is so easy to use, its all digital and it sounds exactly like what you played and makes it sound better. You just record using your choice of the four built in Mics then using your USB upload it to your itunes and add it to your files. Put it on your ipod and start jammin to it.

I'll be alright.
I'm buying the X3Live because it not only serves as a convenient USB 2.0 compatible device, but I can use it on stage/band rehearsals and it gets professional sound quality if you tweak it right anyway.
It's much one of the best all in one box solutions for guitarists anyway.

I prefer recording music.

Well, depending on the equipment being recorded, it could very well turn out as music.

You can't record any equipment without any equipment though.
