I believe that a lot of the reviews here will be 5 star reviews as invariably people tend to want to review their personal favorites first. A lot of my 5 star albums are not on progarchives, a lot are - if you've heard a lot of music you will have a lot af favorites for different reasons.
To my mind Springsteens - The River is a 5 star album but obviously not for progarchives.
Belonging here would be Sabbath's Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, Heeps Demons and Wizards, Genesis's Duke, Karmakanic's Who's the boss in the Factory, Yes's Relayer - all different but all favorites of mine for different reasons. Differing views is a wonderful thing!!!

Almost everything? There are thousands of albums on the DB, many unreviewed... I'm afraid yours is a bit of a sweeping statement. And then, people have the right to give as many stars as they see fit when they review an album. However, ratings without reviews are a different matter (with which I disagree), and they are often used by people to manipulate an album's rating - bence the abundance of five- or one-star reviews.Edited by Raff - December 23 2008 at 12:39 |

I'd like to see more reviews of non favorite albums and disappointments. Anyone has the right to write and give five stars, however when we start to write a review there is a warning saying to avoid five stars... I wrote nineteen reviews and eight are five stars, so I'm guilty, too...  |

Grobsch, 98% of us are amateur reviewers... we, generally, go to the shop to buy an album we believe we would like (band, genre, style, recommendation, other reviews, etc) and only in a few cases when we are disappointed the review may show it.
Anyway, 4 stars and even 3 stars can be great too... to extract one (or two) stars from an album released by a favorite band doesn't mean we don't like the said band or the genre they represent.

Don't be sad, Lucent. It's been discussed to death and there are good reasons for it.
Look at it this way, at least everyone here gets to post their opinion. On other sites only selected reviewers get to write. This place lets everyone have a crack, and when the Admin recognizes those who contribute quality content, they get a little recognition for it. It's a great system in that respect. |
