Is having a conversation via a hands free kit really more distracting than having a couple of children in the back seat?

Indeed. But at least some have a warning sticker in the rear window - Children on board. Presumably this is to alert other drivers that they are likely to do something unexpected at any time, and to overtake them as quickly as possible Wink.

Hmmm,  chloroform? I wonder if that would've been the solution to the echoing silence in our house these days...

Why do people put these type of stickers in their cars. Shouldn't PA print a 'Don't bug me - I'm listening to prog' sticker. Smile

On reflection, probably not. There'll be too many drivers asking you turn up the volume - and that would be a distraction.

aaahhh - car stickers, or "decals" as they call them across the great puddle - i had a collection of these, i even used the obi strip from "Houses of the Holy" as a rear window "sticker" in 73 LOL

i used to like the one that said "if you can read this you are driving too close"....many a rear end shunt ocurred because of these, the hapless victim claiming he was too close because he was trying to read the sticker...Confused

any way the shed seems a bit empty, everybody is out battling their way through Tescos or wherever - i'm on holiday now til 5th January 09 - time to catch up on all those little painting jobs, listen to those records and games i received in the post and haven't had time to look at, a mate at college gave me his Epiphone Sheraton to service for him,  will pop into the Shed now and then - have left a botle of sherry and a box of mince pies in the cupboard for any wandering souls who care to drop in...

hope everyone has a great holiday and don't get too drunk...Wink

MERRY CHRISTMAS! Big smile

And a Merry Christmas to you too Steve

Here's some beer-related new to brighten our day

At last a victory for common sense.
I love this quote "I would observe in passing that the Portman Group's adjudication refers to 'an aggressive-looking Viking'. History would suggest that there were not really any other sort of Vikings."

Indeed, Alan - how is that kind of style error called in English?

And Steve - enjoy the painting, and the rest of the christmas holidays!

What is the Portman Group, and why does it matter what they think of the label?

^ they are a UK brewing industry watch-dog composed of representitives of all the major producers set-up to promote drink awareness and to stop drink driving.

"representitives of all the major producers" - ie producers of that mass market bilge I'd want no part of, thank you very much If it bothers them that much, here's a nice friendly viking:

No aggression there (still has the horned helmet though )

Anyway - the wine's mulling, the fire's crackling, the tree's shedding (how appropriate), the port's decanting, the beer's stillaging () and the sole power socket in the shed's groaning under the combination of 6 multi-blocks all plugged in at once powering everything from supplementary fridges and tree lights to a semi automated flashing glowing Santa, complete with a horribly foreshortened lifesize plastic reindeer...

....it must be Christmas in The Shed.

From Vicky and I to all our good friends here, have a fantastic Christmas & we sincerely wish you all a safe & prosperous 2009.
