Hot Rats for me.
Allowing multiple votes in this poll was suicide for the entire thread, by the way.

As per my review, You Are What You Is -- hilarious, gloriously politically incorrect, cynical, astute, musically adept and varied, great lyrics, singers, musicians. Frank had lots of great stuff, but "YAWYI" is the one I play most often.

I'm torn between "We're Only In It For The Money" and "Ship Arriving Too Late To Save A Drowning Witch". Steve Vai can do no wrong!
Since I chose "other", I'll have both

Didn't Frank himself hate "Hot Rats"?. I seem to remember reading that.

Several Zappa albums are favorites - Hot Rats, Zoot Allures, Waka Jawaka (aka HR2), We're Only In It For The Money, One Size Fits All - but Shiek Yerbouti wins by a very short head, because it help me shake off a seriously broken heart in 1981.
And then many others albums, contain tracks which are specific favorites:
Crew Slut (Joes Garage Part 1 - for its most excellent modern blues harp playing)
Whipping Floss (Helsinki Concert - enjoyable bit of audience participation and then ad libbing)
Illinois Enema Bandit (New York) - rudeness done "in the best possible taste".
Title track from Apostrophe - (for Jack Bruce on thundering 6 string bass) - btw I read Bruce is on another Zappa recording (possibly a live one) but credited with a false name - is this true and if so which album?.

I thought Sheik Yerbouti was released in 1979. Whatever. 'Broken Hearts Are For Assholes' remains a classic.
My fav will be 'One Size Fits All'. Although it's nearly impossible to just pick one fav.

You're right - slip of a key and me not paying attention - I'll change it immediately to 1981

I'm such a nitpicker!
Some dude I know is a HUGE Zappa-freak, and any misquote I make, intentionally or not, is reason for him to beat me up.
Zappa fans can be so fanatic.

Sheik Yerbouti without a doubt. If only for 'Yo mama' which contains my favourite guitar solo of all time.
Ship Arriving... is a cool album too and is a bit of a hidden gem.
