My second review of Fabio Celi's release is thanks... Remastered CD of 'Follia'! And this is the review:

3 stars INTRO: My review is based on re released by Mellow Records in 'Follia' Remastered (MMP 255) as tracks 6 & 7!

REVIEW: Well... Fabio Celi in 1971 research reputation and immortality with this 7'', now part of 'Follia' mellow Records' remastered. The two songs are enough POP to be classified POP but are still Prog. Or rather... It would be better to say that the two songs are Prog enough to classify Prog.

Without the keys parts (heavy but melodic ... What anicipavano the Wakeman solo and wanted to copy Vincent Crane) music by Fabio Celi loses the charm. Horns added... Well... POP music, for me. We should not criticize this choice but I can not do it noted. Neo-classical piano, sax and parts like voice Hammill come to mind are Van Der Graaf Generator. This is 'Via Gaetano Argento 80141 Napoli'. Closest to Osanna is 'Fermi Tutti è Una Rapima'. In reality are Osanna of 'Landscape Of Life' but played three years before, especially for the use of sax that is anticipative of 'Landscape of Life''s sax!

In truth this 7'' is not a perfect testament for Fabio Celi.

We have another guest reviewer:

3 stars 01. Prologo The progressive Italian if initial, soon the dircussos begin. The Italian is a lovely language even. The strangers keyed to the bottom of the speech are sensational, an eternal arpegio of piano and a 'sound' of the synthesizer, giving a tremendously apocalyptic atmosphere, while the bumbo of the battery marks the beat of heart. When the music in you begins the almost acoustic bass of Marco Maggi it takes the band, while the guitar jazz and cleaning of Beppe Ronco goes flat almost without stopping. Practically an instrumental and very well arranged subject.

02. Considerazioni Low, the sounds of the synthesizer enter, the battery of Lello Foti gradually is fitted in the music, the guitar also gradually and discreetly is appearing also. Here the power is of the organ Hammond de Giorgio Foti who also is responsible for the vocal ones of the band. Several brusque changes in the song, riffs strangers, me them completed. When the vocal ones enter more arpegios of piano, next the stranger riff counts seizure of the song again until the vocal ones enter again. Sensational the pártes of keyboard of the final session, including also the bass duplicated soon after, are still these things, not very common, what leave me glad, more if tratanto of music.

03. Per Un'anima When it 'bleated' to the guitar, of those sentimental ones and of it cut heart what only the progressive Italian could do. Unfortunately that also was lost by the time. The keyboards 'orchestrated' to the bottom value and much to short song.

04. Alla Ricerca Di Una Dimensioni Devastating this track it begins already with strength. The keyboard dominates, but the guitar wha doing the melody joined is sensational also. The vocal thing enters in somewhat mystic way. In what it would be the second part of the song to thing it is more 'glad, with a more constant beat, one would slam almost funk. But do not be left enganr, soon the subject returns to put on the house down. Which keyboards are this almost in the end? Fabulous!

05. Ad Un Vecchio Did you imagine a video game when you bind that one began? Because I yes (laughters). The pulled rhythm of the battery half broken jazz, already leaves quite clearly the intention of the somewhat improvised song. The vocal ones enter under a broken melody and strange melody. The melodic parts are all somewhat strange ones and full ones of breaks, of round trips. The following instrumental thing has a worthy riff of the King Crimson. In the sequence more keyboards taken away straightly of the plays of video game (laughters, all are known by us, that in 1974 that 'almost' was not existing, and than all the soundtracks of plays finished going out from the synthesizers in the beginning of everything).

06. There Batalla Del Cane Infelice The mandolin appears here for the first time, fantastically! He doing the melody and the guitar when there is giving base so much for the ground all that for the vocal thing (what was very pretty), the bass accompanies everything in the distance and quite seriously. A sensational, worthy folk of being in the disc and also one of the distinctions of the same thing!

07. Generazioni It binds other one more acoustic and also fantastic. The guitar giving supports to the ground of synthesizer. A gloomy sequêncio with the vocal sussurado. But what follows is the most pure and fantastic progressive Italian, of those tracks that it comes in a crescendo, I risk already saying that to the best of the album. It is a song that gives name to the disc that is printed by one of the capes more legal than I already saw. The second part of the song is sensational, the vocal ones on the surface of the skin, the keyboards 'warning', and the completely sensational band. End more excellent what!

My last two review from Italy:

Perigeo - I grandi Del Rock CD (album) cover

I grandi Del Rock

by PERIGEO (Jazz Rock/Fusion)

3 stars Interesting compilation. A brief but intense. The Jazz sweet and almost New Age, but with references Folk and Funky, arrested in mid tempos and dominated by the sax and electric piano here is everything. Unfortunately, it is a too short compilation to judge Perigeo. And despite this I see that this is a good product to begin with the exploration classics Perigeo. Of course the songs are all included here in versions that appear in albums. But if, as in my case, for several years this compilation was the only thing that I had of Perigeo, we end up saying that it is very good.

I do not enter in the description of the songs, should I evaluate a compilation. Yet I must say that the songs sound in my mind a little cold if extrapolated from the album.

Because budget compilation and forming part of a series of budget compilations I consider valid and interesting this compilation, although it is very thin for graphics and booklet. So I can only say that it is an honest purchase to start with a Perigeo and their wonderful Jazz.

Il Rovescio Della Medaglia - I Grandi Del Rock CD (album) cover

I Grandi Del Rock

by IL ROVESCIO DELLA MEDAGLIA (Italian Symphonic Prog)

4 stars First side (or first 3 songs) fom 'La Bibbia'. Second side (or the rest of this compilation) from 'Contaminazione. I just have to put it down so that you can understand what I will talk about: the final album (or almost) of Rovescio Della Medaglia. Poor for graphics and booklet because part of a series of budget compilations, in truth, this compilation is the opposite for music.

The songs from 'La Bibbia' are pure Heavy Psychedelic Prog. Recorded live and not re-finished the three songs From 'La Bibbia' are really powerful and Lysergic in key Prog. I prefer 'La Creazione' for its power and for the great guitar. thanks to the essential and thin production it sounds like sandpaper. Psychedelic the other two songs from 'La Bibbia'. The second side of Il Rovescio Della Medaglia is represented from the 6 songs from 'Contaminazione' with an orchestra but, like always, tons of Heavy guitars. 'Lei Sei Tu: Lei', the baroque 'Cella 503' and the pure Heavy Prog of 'Alzo Un Muro Elettrico' are my preferred songs.

In the heavy side of RPI Rovescio Della Medaglia is certainly a band that could be the way the Hard Rock and Heavy Metal in Italy. Unfortunately went differently, and so we had to wait Labyrinth, Eldritch and Rhapsody (that, conceptually, are very similar to RovescioDella Medaglia, although play Prog Metal).

A great budget compilation, this. That I recommend to all those who do not know Rovescio Della Medaglia

Well this is pretty wild.  I have no idea what to expect, but I've been told by the psych/prog band Balmung that they are going to talk briefly about the Italian Prog myspace tomorrow on a popular radio show in Rome, where they are being interviewed.  You can listen online by clicking on the stream from this link below.  The show is 6pm Rome time tomorrow, Saturday.  I believe that is 11am central standard time in the states.  The show will be in Italian but they are going to briefly switch to English when they mention my little project.  We'll see what happens!  Star  I've only known these folks for like 2 days so I really have no idea what's up, probably they're just going to say hello...very nice people they are.  I think its cool.

I'm actually familiar with the radio station... I haven't listened to the radio for years (I used to be a very keen listener in the Seventies and Eighties though), but I've seen ads around Rome, so the name was known to me. BTW; I'm impressed by the choice of name of the band Jim mentioned. Balmung, being the name given to Siegfried's sword in the Nibelungenlied, sounds a more likely name for some power metal bandLOL.
