Yeah, I was going to start with Secret Treaties, whenever I save some money, and of course I had some other priorities first like Dream TheaterWink

Get the following albums in this order:

Dream Theater- Scenes from a Memory
Dream Theater- Images and Words
Blue Oyster Cult- Secret Treaties

They're all essential. Clap

I already bought Images & Words, and before Octavarium(my first DT album). I was planning to buy Falling into InfinityShocked*prepares to recieve negative opinions about it* I really had thought on buying something with the keyboardist that I'm missing. I supposed it to be Change of Seasons, but it really just haves 1 original song, the rest is really meh, of course it may be DT's best song, but I prefer something that I can listen the whole or at least most of it. After I buy that(FII), and if I liked it, I'll go with Awake(probably) and then maybe COS.

^I'm a guy that is ok with pop blend with Prog or Hard Rock. And I really ain't a fan of Metal, I dislike it generally. And also saw a guy saying that Lines in the Sand is similar to Learning to Live, I can't miss that, though thanks for your warning.

EDIT: Read your review: It makes me buy it even more. As I said before, and as you said, it has Pop influences/commercial sign, and I can't expect Pop ala Simply Red from a band as Dream Theater, I expect something interesting.
Please do not think I'm a Pop lover, or a man that can barely stand heavy music, I LOVE Hard Rock as well as Heavy Prog, one of my faves bands of all-time is Deep Purple.

Have you heard Awake and Scenes from a Memory? In my opinion those are the ones you should go for. Or LTE2 for instance. Change of Seasons it's very good , the epic it's great even compared to those from the 70's , and the covers aint bad either specially the Elton John one.

FII would be great without filler like " You not me" or " Burning my soul"

I agree that SFAM is definitely the best choice. That is the pinnacle of prog metal; even if you're not a huge metal fan, I still think you should check it out. May take a while to grow on you, but it's worth hearing.

Awake is darker, but still very good.

Oh, and nice album. Space Revolver rocks. ClapClapClapClap

I like Pink Floyd, but they're often hit or miss. Nonetheless, Animals is their only 5 star album to me.
