Erik, where you've been? !!!! I've spent a lot of money on Medina Azahara, Sabicas, Vicente Amigo and other Spanish CDs, but the Prog Andaluz thread is dying without you. Only ZowieZiggy buys Medina Azahara albums and rates them between 1 and 2 stars (rarely, I guess after a good supper, he is so kind to give 3 stars).  Erik, come back to save Spanish rock here from total indifference and too exacting reviewers!  |

Hello NotAProghead.
Sorry but 3 months ago I have written my final review for Prog Archives because I am very disappointed about the musical direction of Prog Archives (more and more towards Classic Rock Archives) and the bands addition policy. Although I will write no longer reviews and have stopped to create threads and suggests bands in the special section, I still visit PA and at some moments I post, especially in my own threads. Thanks for your fine words and great to read that you have bought so many Prog Andaluz albums, yesterday I played the Sabicas album, what a stunning progrock from 1966, featuring a very young Tony Levin on bass
 My latest Spanish discoveries:
Franklin - Life Circle (very adventurous Seventies prog with wonderful vintage keyboards)
The Storm - The Storm (in the vein of early Deep Purple with lots of Hammond)
Abedul - Nosotros (beautiful melodic symphonic rock)
I am planning to reviews these albums for Progwalhalla in January.

Nice to see you again. I think nothing we can do about PA turning to Classic Rock Archives and, by the way, Metal Archives. If you stop your activities the tendency you dislike will not stop. IMHO if you will post your reviews for Progwalhalla (my best regards to Hans, he's a nice guy to communicate with, I'm greatful to him for some rare albums he found for me) on PA too, more people will discover some good but obscure music.  Though it's up to you to decide, I hope to see you at least in your threads. |

Well NotAProghead, I keep on visiting PA and I will do my posts on the Forum but my main progrock activities will be Progwalhalla and the DPRP because I consider these sites as genuine progrock sites. Next month I hope DPRP will publish my extensive article 101 New Progrock Bands In The Last Decade, it contains a cascade of lesser known and unknown new progrock bands that are (still) not on PA but fortunately Progwalhalla and DPRP endorses me to write about it, for example, I just got this mouth-watering list with new bands to review:

Konzerte is out on re-release? At last!!! That must be a classic album: I probably must have read that in one of your reviews, Erik, as usual I might say
 . I tried to get it, and it was not obtainable for a long time, but now...

Indeed, at last, we had to wait more than 30 years
 but the CD release of Konzerte by Novalis is really worth listening due to the excellent remastering work of Eroc, a big hand for him  Rockpommel's Land has its moments but in general it is a bit laidback album, I prefer Ballermann and of course Solar Music is the highlight, what an awesome epic!
I hope you will be there on our next Progwalhalla evening, perhaps in February, OK?

Great news from Konzerte, because I love Novalis. Eroc: seeing how many times I hear his name, this man must be a monument of prog
 Yes, Rockpommel's Land sounded too laid back, that's the word. The artwork was great, though. I still haven't listened to their magnum opus Solar Music yet.
 About the Progwalhalla evening: I try to, Erik. I really would like to do that. If it's in Zaandam: maybe I'll organize with friends or family that I can be the Friday in the Netherlands already, so that I don't need to drive too many hours on the Saturday, because I have to get back to Belgium for the Sunday morning. If I know the date some time ahead I can arrange something. All the Saturdays in February are still free for me now (all the Sundays occupied).

Ah, the Old Bell.... I was walking back to Amsterdam Central Station last month after visiting a customer. I missed a turn and suddenly I was standing right in front of it. If it hadn't been for band practise, I would've gone in for saté and a beer.

Well, from a pub that has good Irish beer and good Indonesian sateh at the same time you would expect some musical fusion. I think they could be lured into prog. Just tell them it's a musical version of their food and drinks. They probably don't know any better. Music is not their core business
