Was scheduled but I overlooked it when typing up that playlist, by Canadian heavy rock band Wood (from their album Against The Grain)

A few goodies have appeared in last few weeks. Absolutely bowled over by French heavish fusionists Morglbl (presumed pronunced Morgelball), and didn't play anything other than their two albums (the latest which is a stormer, and the double which in fact is their first two 90's albums in one CD box, and that is great too). Not your run of the mill heavy fusionists either - lots of Gallic humour comes through in the way they play their instruments and their, idiosyncratic (scat?) vocals and the occasional adaption of (what I'm guessing are) old French folk tunes. Definite my album of the month for January.  Staying French; something from the new Bireli Lagrene electric album - Mclaughlin's young bassist Hadrian Farard, does the honours here. Plus a couple of forthcoming Moonjune Records releases including Soft Machine live,  immediately after Robert Wyatt's departure, with replacement New Zealander Phil Howard, apparently being quite 'Tony Williams-like'. Also picked something up from Abstract Logix, a double CD compilation/tribute to Mahavishnu Orchestra - several tracks issued before (e.g. Gary Husband, Mahavishnu Project) but lots of new (to me) stuff. Well that's the first half hour sorted.....

A good day  wrt receipt of new CDs, and therefore the core of the show Thursday week:

Gary Husband's Drive: Hotwired
Spaced Out: Evolution
MM Circle: Requiem Pour Un Vivant
Calire Vezina: Cyber Neptune
Nathan Mahl: Exodus
Karcius: Episodes
Rewiring Genesis: A Tribute To Lamb Lies Down On Broadway (sorry my first reaction: Nick D'Virglio shouldn't be singing this).

Looking forward to the show, Dick - looks great.

I've totally loved all of the Gary Husband stuff i've heard, and especially his take on McLaughlin's stuff.
Tasty, respectful and yet new and fresh. He's extremely original and an excellent player on both piano and percussion.

Also, you can never go wrong with Egg, in my book. They were a huge influence on me back in the day. And Enneagram is one of my very faves, as is anything from The Polite Force. Nicely done, my friend!

And Gentle Giant, too???? you've got many of my all-time favourites on this one. Should be quite a rockin' affair Thumbs Up

Cheers and all that jiznit,

Kimara

I think it will sound great too - apart from the idiot wobbling on between tracks.... Strongly considering dumpingone jazz tune in favour of  the new mastered art of borrowing from You Tube's soundtrack - in this case a frenectic version of Some Skunk Funk live by the Breckers - but can't decide on a Japan version (at least one and half times faster than the original) or a later Spanish recording where Michael signature playing sounds through and sounds more sounddesk than the earlier version. Wait and see/listen.
