A LOT!! "ALOT" IMPLIES A LIMITATION AS IN "YOUR ALLOTED ETC"!! A LOT CAN BE "A LOT OF MONEY OR "ANNA NICOLE SMITH HAS A LOT OF FRONT!"

MIND YOU A LOT CAN ALSO BE THE STUFF OF FANTASY AS IN I DONT HAVE A LOT TO BE A PORN STAR!! BUT I WISH I DID!! OR I DONT HAVE A LOT OF MONEY

WHERASE "ALOT" CAN MEAN "I HAVE JUST ALLOTED YOU  10000000$ TAX FREE NO STRINGS ATTACHED!!

of course one would ask "OH YEAH!! AND WHEN ARE THE MAFIA GOING TO COME AFTER THEIR STOLEN LAUNDERED MONEY!!!??

WHICH COULD LEAD TO A LOT OF TROUBLE!!

FREID CHICKEN OR ROAST CHICKEN!!!

^ SorryDewdiedearieyoumissedthepoint!

"Allot" (to distribute as a portion; allocate) wasn't one of the choices.

I was asking if "a lot" (as in, I see this error quite a lot lately!) is one word, or two. (It's always two.) I don't know why so many people feel that they can now join the two words together. What's next? "Thanks alot for having atalk with me about myspelling. Maybe later we can go for awalk, or perhaps have acoffeee together." AngryLOL  MaybeEnglishisturningintoGerman!Wink

Mmmmm! I love both fried and roast chicken, but I suppose I'll choose roast, as it's healthier -- except for the poor chicken!

Viewing Canada geese (not Canadian geese - that would mean any species of goose in Canada) is better for the ol' arteries than eating bacon (which, nevertheless, is wonderful on a BLT), so I'll go with them.

Cry At this time of year, as our mighty avian airforce, in great flocks of a hundred or more,  pass overhead, winginging their way southward in a gigantic "V" formation (reasonably smart birds, despite never learning the other 25 letters of the alphabet), on their magnificent migratory way to despoil and befoul, with their suprisingly substantial "payloads," every American greensward they encounter, I can't help shedding a manly, patriotic tear, knowing that our huge honkers will be once more invading Yankee land, in just retribution for your ill-advised 1812 invasion of us. Ah, sweet revenge!  Stern Smile Wink

Yes, and yes. I just wanted to make the meaning of "imperialism" more clear for all members (especially younger members, or those who speak English as a second language). The post, and subsequent choices, were meant to be funny. Sorry.

Please teach me to be flawless (not to mention sensitive to others' feelings), like Thou!Confused

PS: "isn't" needs an apostrophe. Wink

TTYL

Least you know that pedant is negative!LOL

I like nit-picky, it is good for banter.Clap

I think I've overplayed the smart ass wind up thing a bit! If you cant say anything good about something............, as my mother used to say.Embarrassed

I'm not as knowledgeable on the Whole Prog scene as some of you but I will try to be more thoughtful in my band critiques. As for politics and religion, I see them as living and breathing entities.Others on this site think they are lifestyle choices. This,I promise, is my final word-unless something major happens!!!!!!!!!!Ouch

pedant is a friggin noun...the word you are looking for is pedantic...yeah...you're sooooooooo clever Reed Lover...Look up pedant...you'll be surprised at it's meaning.

Pedantic is an adjective....adjectives are used to describe something...that would be more appropriate in your use.

i knew what pedantic meant and I assumed thats what you meant...hence my lash at Threefates.

Now quit being such an instigator and let us stop this ridiculous banter now. Agreed!

What's wrong with banter?

If you feel pushed into a corner, say so!
