Interesting aditions Erik, I was able to download an ep for free from the Half Past Four website and enjoyed their quirky eclectic blend of Prog.

Taifa are very good. Prog metal with a strong Spanish influence. Thumbs%20Up

                    Well Paul, today I had time to listen to Halfpastfour their album, what a varied
                          and interesting music, you can even dance on some tracks Shocked .. LOL !

I am waiting on the postman, Saturday he uses to be a bit earlier so hopefully I can enjoy the Taifa album this weekend, good to read that you appreciate their music (those MP3 files are a good introduction), I love the blend of prog metal guitar riffs and flamenco guitar runs Approve

And good news: Nostradamus will be added but the teams are still discussing the genre because of the amount of prog metal in their music, to me they sounds as a Heavy Prog version of Solaris.

Erik, from the link you supplied for Nostradamus and the limited samples I was able to listen too I would say when those guitar riffs kick in they have a very metallic sound but they also seem to have many quieter moments, perhaps too many to be trully Prog Metal?

In September we will organize a new Progwalhalla evening at the home of Hans, I hope you will be there and Dirk and Karin too.

Good news for the Dutch progheads: on Saturday November 1st the excellent French progrock band Nemo will perform on the annual Progfarm Festival Clap
 
Wow, That's terrific news indeed, i've been waiting for ages to see this band live even planning to make the very long trip to Verviers someday. I was already planning to go to this festival, look forward to it now even more.....ClapClapClap.

 Nemo is a quite profilic band as  I see, with 4-5 probably rather good albums, but they are at a small label, so not that easy to find.
And I always rescpect bands who sing in their native language.

Can anybody tell me about the new band called Edensong? I have heard some good reviews but it doesn't seem like anybody I trust has heard it yet. Do you know of this band Erik?

The 2008 Edensong album, The Fruit Fallen, is quite good, a "fresh air" music in today's prog...pretty much recommended. Clap

I heard a few songs on their Myspace and loved it.
Ordered it right away from CD Baby and looking forward to it.

Yes Paul and I am very glad that John (owner of Progressiveland) has given me an opportunity to write about interesting new lesser known and unknown progrock bands (like Albatros, Nostradamus and Cronico), at this moment the scene is florishing and I am very proud at new Dutch formation Survival, great keyboards, inspired by the late Rick Van Der Linden and Aviva Omnibus is sensational Thumbs Up

They were in holland at the progfarm festival a month ago. Amazing concert really. Impressive performance by all the members of the band. Vocalist/guitarist  Jean Pierre Louveton is very charismatic on stage. Spoke with them after the concert they're very nice guys too.

The progfarm festival is great btw. If you ever get a chance to attend, do so.

@Erik, nice to see you pick up this thread again. I got the  Sagarmatha dilemma from D project saturday at the progwalhalla meeting. Great album. Going to listen to Albatross the next days.

Well fellow Dutchman Dirk, Albatros is great and I am very happy with the enthousiastic reactions on the previous Progwalhalla evening!
The best thing I remember from the latest Progwalhalla evening (besides the delicious Aldi Bockbier Approve) is at the end of the evening when I asked attention for new and promising Chilean progrock band Astralis and then everybody was very pleased with their emotional music. Another acclaimed band was the new Dutch progrock band Survival.
 
This week Progressiveland and Progwalhalla have published another serie of my reviews about lesser known and unknown new progrock bands like like Alma, Mass Media, excellent Anima Mundi album, Red Sand DVD, Sergio Alvarez, Moonrise, Albatros, Nostradamus, Cronico, Breathing Space, Nemezis, Aviva Omnibus, The Healing Road, Gerson Werlang, etc. etc. see:

I got Survival too last Saturday, still have to listen to it. Nostradamus is great, almost as good as Solaris which is one of my favorite bands. If you like Solaris you can't afford to miss this one.

I have a few other albums from the above list. I'd certainly recommend Nemezis, great Female singer here and solid tracks overall.  Alma is a side project from Nexus and it's rather quiet. Good female vocals but for me it lacks the exitement Nexus generates, i can see others loving this album though. Cronico has very good moments but you have to put up with a mediocre female vocalist who sounds imo simply awful if she tries her hand at the english language. If she doesn't do this the album is very good though.

2)      Il Bacio Delle Medusa – Discesa .. (the best from Italy since many years)

3)      Simon Says – Tardigrade (mindblowing vintage keyboard sound from Sweden)

4)      Keith Emerson Band Featuring Marc Bonilla – Same (what a return)

5)      Nostradamus -  Testament (splendid heavy version of Solaris)

6)      Aviva Omnibus – Nutracker In Fury (sensational keyboards and guitars)

7)      Willowglass – Book Of Hours (Trons and Moog Taurus bass pedals, hmm)

8)      Survival – Crusader (excellent new Dutch band with wonderful keyboards)

9)      Don Airey - A Light In The Sky (so exciting)

10)   JPL – Retrospections Volume I (dynamic guitar-oriented eclectic prog)

Some great stuff there Erik. Il Bacio Della Medusa make my top 10 of the year but I still haven't got the Nostradamus cd which has been on my list since you plugged it here. I've heard excellent reports about the Keith Emerson album. A friend has it so I'll have to go round for a listen.
