Area. Is jazz-rock/fusion the correct place? I'd say it's avant-fusion-RPI personally

Hmm. Never thought about that, but I think I can hear what you mean.

Now that I'm listening to "Novarest" I maybe can hear some Zeuhl here, but overall I just don't hear it. No question it's a tough band to pin down - the reviews bear that out, and I see plenty of Canterbury references sprinkled throughout, so it's clear that those who have heard the album are probably hearing the same things I'm hearing.

I don't really hear Magma in there, nor Hatfield, to be honest... Sometimes - and now I'm going to sound really crazy - I wonder if Kultivator may have influenced Koenjihyakkei a bit. No, really - it's obviously far, far gentler and more pastoral, but of course almost all music is gentler and more pastoral than Koenji... I don't know why, but it always reminds me just a tiny bit (for some unidentifiable reason) of our Japanese noisemakin' friends.

Nor would I dream of doing something like that unilaterally even if I could, hence the wink. I'd need approval from both teams, but it's hard to get a response from ZART.

I just read the band's PA bio, and they were described as uncategorizable or something to that effect. If they were to be moved, the bio would definitely have to be re-written, since it kind of centers around them being kind of zeuhl but kind of not.

You should make a category that's called 'Fill-in-the-blank/Canterbury Hybrid' - or at least, a list of that stuff.

They draw from a lot of influences, but (and tell me if it's just me) when I listen to them I hear way more Hatfield and the North than I do Magma - that should tell you something right there.

I'm not sure if he will drop in or not, but I'd like to welcome the newest member of the 30-something crowd, Teo aka The T to the Shred Room. We should probably have a Dream Theater listening party in his honor or something, except that I don't have any DT in my presence at the moment. ![LOL LOL](https://www.progarchives.com/forum/smileys/smiley36.gif)

Exactly. This album should be moved out of Zeuhl and into Canterbury. I wonder if I have the power to do that...
