That is a pretty good song. Clap

The album definitely isn't straight forward prog, but there are plenty of atypical arrangements sprinkled throughout it, which is why I think it's as enjoyable as it is.

I'm hopefully reviewing some Santana next. Their early stuff is fantastic.

I don't have too much Santana, other than a greatest hits album, and the newer recordings with pop stars that make most PAers want to hurl.  I did pick up Santana III rather recently and it was quite good.

Yeah, I don't own anything past their first 5 albums. Dead

Their early albums feature some really good fusion though. I'm listening to the debut right now and it's pretty solid.

I am listening to Dare to Dream, which is the debut solo album from Saga drummer Steve Negus.  It is included under crossover prog.  Nothing RIO or Avant that will blow your Henry Cow socks off, but an enjoyable listen for the poppy side of prog.  If you are interested BTrew created a thread which includes a link to the Cyclone Records website where you can listen to the entire album in streaming format.  I'd be curious to see what other Shred Roomers think of it.

Here is a link to the thread, which has the links to the album.  http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=53768&PID=3057495#3057495

And you aren't kidding about "so much to hear".  It goes back to my comment last week, "so much music, so few ears", or something like that.

Exactly.

This album should be moved out of Zeuhl and into Canterbury.  I wonder if I have the power to do that...Wink

Pat, you are a five-star PA general.  You have THE POWER!!! LOL

You should make a category that's called 'Fill-in-the-blank/Canterbury Hybrid' - or at least, a list of that stuff.

You have the power to politic for it, but probably not the power to do it.

I'm not sure if he will drop in or not, but I'd like to welcome the newest member of the 30-something crowd, Teo aka The T to the Shred Room.  We should probably have a Dream Theater listening party in his honor or something, except that I don't have any DT in my presence at the moment. LOL

They draw from a lot of influences, but (and tell me if it's just me) when I listen to them I hear way more Hatfield and the North than I do Magma - that should tell you something right there.
