When it comes to the most albums I own relating to one act, in my collection it is Stackridge - I now have 70 albums in this collection, this includes a fair few bootlegs, obviously! I'll have to recount my Genesis/Genesis related collection, but it isn't too far behind that figure now either.
Who takes up the most space on your shelves??

Tangerine Dream and Klaus Schulze, of course. TD have 100+ albums, KS is close to 100 too, if you decompose his boxsets. Same with Pete Namlook (if not better), but I don't have all of his music on CD. And same with Rick Wakeman, but again, I don't have all his music on CD, plus I threw out the window some... I might push for John Zorn in the future! |

That would be Yes, around about the 30 mark I guess + assorted solo albums. |

I am a Zappa head. I have somewhere around 40 albums and CDs... that's not counting the DVDs. I also saw him live on five different occasions as well as both ZPZ tours.

I heard a rapper released close to 80 records within 9 years, including mixtapes, singles and maybe re-releases and different issues of the same album, but it's still a lot. I forgot who it was, but he's still around and dropping new albums. In his lifetime there would probably be thousands. |

For me, it is Yes and Yes-related. I have all of the Yes official releases as well as a few bootlegs and some of these crazy unofficial compilations that have also been released. I have also been on a mission to try and collect as much Yes-related albums as I can. I have most of the Jon Anderson solo albums, Steve Howe solo albums, and Bill Bruford solo and Earthworks albums, as well as the Chris Squire and Alan White side projects. Not to mention the Bill Bruford side project band called King Crimson (or something like that ). I have many Rick Wakeman solo albums, but quite frankly I've probably barely made a dent there since there are so many releases, and many of them are out of print. But essentially, if a person was ever a member of Yes, I am pretty much trying to collect any CD/album where they may have made an appearance. I have many, many CDs here to that effect, but unfortunately, I still have a long, long way to go.

Steven Wilson is top of my list when it comes to the amount of work AND the quality of work. I mean, P.Tree is probably the most prolific+acclaimed modern band, and Steven is also producer for a post-StillLife-mortem Opeth. (forgive my inventive grammar) I mean he's the guy that revived the guy(Mikael) who died in "White Cluster". If you find an artist releasing more than Steven, they usually aren't as good as Steven. |

CD Universe people will be happy to nominate Dream Theater. On their all-time best-selling chart, Dream Theater is like ... they own the website or something. Note that O.S.I. and A Night with John are actually Dream Theater in different forms.

On my shelves, it's definitely King Crimson and King Crimson's related projects. If I add solo albums by members of the band, the number doubles.
I guess it all adds up to over 30. |

Checking my collection I'd have to mention Frank Zappa, Peter Hammill, Steve Hackett, Al DiMeola, Jethro Tull, King Crimson,Magma, and Steven Wilson related.
An honorary mention goes to DEEP PURPLE who manage to fit 20 'Best Of' and 50 'Live' albums between each studio release.

Zappa, closely followed by Jonas Hellborg who was most prolific through the 90's.

not sure, either Hawkwind or Peter Hammill, whoever made more albums. there is a fair amount of other artists with lots of albums in our collectrion too, like Frank Zappa or the Ozric Tentacles. we are completionists; we only make an exception when an artist starts producing only albujms we don't like (like Tangerine Dream, for example; after "Poland" they changed their style drastically, and not to their favor, however, that still makes a lot of Tangerine Dream albums in our collection. Gong and Guru Guru are another big bunch. no bootlegs though
