The funny thing is they played all my favourites! I'm so pleased they played Godhead's Lament, they hardly ever do. The Drapery Falls was phenomenal as well, but my highlights had to be either Heir Apparent and Deliverance. I was bleeding internally after those songs they owned so much. I'd see them again, definitely.
I still can't feel my spine

I dont know about the intro they used, though. it worked fantastically with When on the live album but not so much with Heir Apparent, just starts a bit too slow.
The Drapery Falls and Demon of the Fall were both phenomenal. Godheads Lament was good, but they played Serenity Painted Death the last time I saw them which was brilliant. |
Yeah, I heard someone heckling for Serenity Painted Death. To be honest, they couldn't really go wrong with anything off the Still Life album. I think an unforgettable gig would be if they played Still Life in its entirety, from the the peculiar dissonance of The Moor right through to the closing clean section. Highly unlikely however.

The already mentioned Godheads Lament and Demon of the Fall are the most likely for you to see them play, but When, April Etheril and The Amen Corner (from My Arms Your Hearse) and The Moor, Moonlaps Vertigo, Face of Melinda and White Cluster (Still Life) are the essential ones from those albums IMO. Kibble, I agree with you on them playing Still Life all the way through, but its Balckwater Park that would send me off the deep end.

I love Opeth, but their not my all time favorite progessive band or metal band..although i do own every single album!
My All time favorite prog Band would have to be YES and my all time favorite metal band is Judas Priest.

Well, after having seen them live yesterday Opeth has beome one of my favourites.
Spectacular (but a little short show  ) and yes, Akerfeldt is a very funny frontman. |

I´m not sure in its entirety as it was someway difficult to hear Mikael with allthe crowd
clapping and whistling. Sure they played Coil- as intro-, The lotus eater, Godhead´s lament,
and my favourite song by them in the bisses The drapery falls.
I like them a lot but am very far from being an Opeth´s expert and don´t really know
every song in detail

Same here actually, it's always remained a mystery to me. Read my review on MAYH for my thoughts on Karma. I've always said that the album is right up there with Still Life and Blackwater Park.

Interesting, but I tend to avoid ordering my favourite albums. The order will most likely change around 30 times within the space of a fortnight.

I´ve said it many times and I will keep on saying it. Ackerfeld is metal´s best composer ever! There are many great ones, some excellent ones, very few are astonishing... but Ackerfeld is on another level. He is the man and should rule all the world!!!!!!

I like Opeth because they take chances. I saw them opening for Porcupine Tree a few years back, and I hadn't heard a note of their music prior. They were very polished, and very professional. I met one of the guitar players after their gig, and he was very nice, and very approachable.
They just seem like all around nice guys, and they like to push what they do to it's next logical step. Not sure if I would call him a genius, because my knowledge of metal is pretty bad, so I have no frame of reference to compare Opeth to. I do know that I like what I hear from them, though.
And I hope I don't alienate too many hardcore Opeth fans by saying this, but, I think Watershed is one of the best albums I have heard in a long time. It's consistent, produced well, and the playing on it is excellent.
