I've seen them many times too.  I have pretty much caught them every time they have come around since the Union tour, and I had tickets to see them this summer before they had to cancel because of Jon's health.  It has been quite awhile since they have toured, so it would be cool to catch them again, even in this formation.

I listened to Gong's You last night and it sounded fantastic!! (as usual)

I'm currently re-listening to Isle of Everywhere because it's infinitely epic... but I'm not sure what to put on after that.

I agree with that sentiment, even though I never had an opportunity to see Yes. Anderson was such an important experience in my early music stages that I just can't get over that. Likewise, I couldn't see them if Howe or Squire was missing.

That is an extremely good album and definitely a perfect RIO album for someone who isn't really into RIO. ClapClapClap

Is it just instrumental or is there singing too?   My eMusic count is at 0 for the month already.  I think it resets around the 10th of each month, so I will keep this one in mind for when my account refreshes.

It depends on how many six star albums we could award, but that's definitely a candidate for me. Clap

Steve Hillage is one of my personal favorite guitarists/musicians ever (if not my favorite guitarist besides Zappa). That's a relatively unknown fact about me around these parts.

The singing is very conventional and not extremely present. If I had to recommend one album out of RIO, Zeuhl, or anything else to you though, Scott, I'd simply have to do this one.

That album was technically my first RIO/Avant album... because I didn't even know what RIO/Avant really was back then. LOL

That was back when I didn't like Zappa and Magma and didn't know who Henry Cow was. Confused

There are vocals on this record.  I think since you enjoyed 4/3 de Trio so much you would like this one as well, although this one might be a bit more "RIO" as Alex said - but only a little bit.

I still need to hear that 4/3 one.

Ack, too much to hear and I have over 1000 CDs! Confused

Yep.  4/3 de Trio was a great recommendation from Pat.  I have definitely enjoyed that one.

That doesn't sound like Rush to me. ErmmDisapprove  I've never actually heard Gryphon.  I've seen the name bantered around from time to time, but I have yet to cross paths with them.

They are great, but I still prefer Spirogyra on the prog folk front.

I'll do some Rush later today; I promise. Big smile

Gryphon is amazing. Their album Red Queen to Gryphon Three would be one of my six star albums no matter how many we were allowed to give out (so long as it is more than a few). It is certainly unique though. Very medieval-esque.

Did you guys chase her away?  I noticed the other day that I hadn't seen her around here in awhile.

I really am not entirely positive about all that... everything I do know calls for a long story to say the least.

She'll be back though. A matter of when is what I don't know.
