Yeah, it took me a while for Bedlam to fully grow on me.
Once it did, it was awesome.

Same here. I didn't really understand it or like it for a few listens at least.

YES!

That is a personal favorite of mine, may be my 2nd favorite TMV track. Big smile

Holy crap.  Why have I not paid more attention to this one?  The melody is amazing.

That song is SO tight. Clap

"I NEEEEED A BRAAAAND NEW SKIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIN!!!!"

*air drums to it*

You inspired me to put Bedlam in just for that song. Wink

I'm listening to the rest of the album just because of that song.  I'm not as impressed so far, though (I actually didn't care as much for "Goliath" as I thought I would after reading some reviews), but I'm willing to hear everything again.  If anything, "Ilyena" made the album worth buying.

How many times have you heard it? I remember exactly what I thought of certain songs and the album as a whole after so many listens. I didn't start to "get" some songs until about 5-8 listens of the entire album. About that 7th or 8th listen though is when I really started to love each track and my appreciation for Bedlam has grown exponentially since then. It's easily one of my favorite albums ever.

Admittedly, none.  I've found this album so unpalatable previously, that I could not listen to it in total.  I had to just take one or two tracks at a time.  But right now I'm listening to it all.

I still find much of it noisy (too many effects), and so forth, but I'm enjoying it more than I have previously.

Ehh, I'm half here, and half trying to get on with other things.
I might be off soonish, get out for a jog and do some collab work.

That's funny you say it's too noisy, since that's my only critique of any TMV album (that album being Frances) where I think they overdid it at parts. I still love it though.

Definitely give it more listens; you might be surprised.

Well, one of my biggest complaints with "Cavalettas" is a complaint I've had with many progressive rock songs: Putting several shorter songs together and calling it a longer piece.  Still, I like what I've heard in the song.

I can see what you mean. That one took me a while to dissect.

Okay, seriously, "Agadez" sounds like The Mars Volta trying to cover something by Christina Aguilera.  It's a pop-sounding vocal over their loud ass band.  Again, not bad, but not great.

I'm an honest listener.  A drinker, perhaps, but honest nonetheless.  That one had a pop-oriented vocal to me.  And believe me, I have a wife and sister.  Dead

I don't know what to make of "Askepios."

Parts of it I like, parts I don't.  Parts I really don't.

Hey man, this is all coming from someone who didn't like The Mars Volta the first twenty-two times he heard them, but bought the albums anyway, and is totally into them now.
