Besides, I had WarChild on the stereo earlier today, so no need to overdose on JT.

I don't listen to much classic prog these days (even though I did play some Yes earlier).

As much as my tastes have changed and expanded over the past 4 years, I can still use some classic prog. ![]() I do admit I don't listen to it as much as I once did though, but you've had an extra two decades over me, so that may be why I still listen to them more often. ![]() |

Plus those "classic" bands were all I knew, I had nowhere near the knowledge of prog that you and the other younger members have. So for many years that's all I listened to. |

I feel a song coming on (though due to forum guidelines I can't quote in full). "It's fun to charter an accountant And sail the wide accountancy, To find, explore the funds offshore And skirt the shoals of bankruptcy..." YouTube - The Crimson Permanent Assurance part 1
Thanks. Ah yes.... I'm usually multitasking, plus my problem with writing uberlong posts, which means that conversation moves too fast for me, and once I've posted what I say not only will it not be timely, it will be downright anachronistic. ;) And truth be told, I'm a little concerned about my postcount hitting the stratosphere. I was once quite frequent in chatrooms. |

I've been only listening to Rush in my car for the past couple of weeks. It is quite a drawn out process, since my commute is only about 15 minutes, it takes me 2 days to listen to each album. Otherwise, I have rarely listened to classic prog too lately.

That's understandable. My dad was big on music back then but he actually doesn't listen to it anymore really unless he's with me--he's more of a movie person now that he's gotten older. It has taken me a few years to truly expand as far as I have---I listened to mainly all Symphonic Prog for the first year I started loving music or even longer (hence its representation in my last.fm charts because they're since December 2005), but I think my knowledge of music has really grown amazingly. It was even easier for David because I introduced him to prog a year ago, and he had access to stuff I hadn't even had right away. |

My taste has been changing quite a bit lately but I'm still managing to balance my liking for just about everything still (thereby expanding instead of directly changing); the last music I've heard over the past day or two includes Meshuggah, Tull, Mars Volta, Henry Cow, and Rush. I was thinking more along the lines of The Beatles' song "Tax Man", since I spend most my time with tax returns, however, other than the chorus the song is really about my adversary, the IRS or other government equivalent.

I didn't think it was too common to meet another Accountant who also has Rush as their favorite band, but our tastes aren't TOO similar, especially with the direction mine have been taking over the past year. |

You did give VDGG 1 star didn't you. I wouldn't go that far, but so far they have been mostly a 2-star band for me. I still expect that they will click for me someday, but as of yet it hasn't happened.

Excellent; it's a great album. I'm playing Yugen's Labrinto d'acqua now (a favourite of mine from 2006) that I haven't listened to for far too long. Some days I just want Magma (I'm trying to cool down my Magma fanboyism). |
