you are absolutely right, Jim... November has been a fairly dreadful month for me, musically... 
I realise Shadow Gallery won't be many people's cup of tea in the Shed, but their music has given me a great deal of enjoyment over the past decade, and the month started with Mike Baker's untimely death at 45 from a heart attack...
...and now, you might say the other side of my 'musical brain' has been affected with the sad loss of Richard Hickox, at 60. I know that in comparison with Lee, I will sound a bit of a fraud, but ironically, I was introduced to his music a couple of years ago, via a junk shop rumble, when I came across one of his CDs for 50p and thought I'd give it a go...
I have to tell you, it was one of the best 50p's I have ever spent in my life, because it helped to open up a whole new world for an ignorant progressive metalhead. I really never knew that Religious Choral music could sound so vibrant, harmonious and utterly spine tingling....
anyway, for Lee's benefit (like he needs it  ) and for anyone else who might be interested in a dabble, this is what I'm referring to:

^^ the red one... that's the CD I purchased for 50p...
its in 24 bit digital, and when I play it through my 'surround sound' system in the front room, with different voices coming out of different speakers, you feel like you're part of the performance...  (and btw, thanks to every other Shed member for indulging us, for just a moment... that's one of the great things about the Shed... you can feel comfortable just 'talking' about what's on your mind at the moment, and everyone accepts & understands... )

 Shed appreciation! hooorah! I have no idea what the last 3 or 4 pages of drivel are all about, but it looks like all is normal here in the shed.  It's nice to be back after a long week tending the elderly and the infirm ............just like the shed really, but with less drafts!  Rx

btw - on the subject of 5.1 surround 24 bit etc.., i have just ordered the Genesis 1970-75 Gabriel era box set in aforesaid format (with rare footage and "Lamb" tour slides)....will report back when received and tested

Santa's getting it for me (if I'm good). Let us know what you think Steve. I've heard some samples and personally I can't wait to hear them all in glorious remastered sound.

And have you noticed, Jared - most of the time, we're left to our own devices, we're rarely interrupted by children & if I want to say I think James LaBrie couldn't carry a tune in a bucket, or put forward the theory that if John Petrucci were to slow his playing down everyone would realise he's only hitting 3 out of every 10 notes correctly, I won't actually get hung drawn & quartered.

there were some generally very negative reviews for the later (Collins) albums, and some mixed reviews on Amazon for the new Gabriel era set, but just have a look at this....

I have the Genesis 1970-1975 Box-set and the sound quality is amazing.
I was listening to it on my MP3 player and there are bits that I have never heard before after 30 odd years of listening to these albums.
The Return of the Giant Hogweed is a case in point. During the chant section, there's background voices that I have never heard.I was walking across Hungerford Bridge when I first heard the new remaster/box-set version and thought that someone was sying something into my left ear. I had such a shock when the voices came in that I jumped about a foot into the air.
Hang on a bit...Will someone please verify the above...Perhaps I really am hearing voices.

I haven't heard Hogweed yet but there are new things on the tracks I have heard e.g. a tambourine on Cinema Show (which is just about there on my original CD now that I know about it). There's also some new bits on The Knife, plus some effects on the vocals that weren't there before.

i understand PG had some input into this project - maybe he sneakily turned up his vocals in the mix and turned down the drums.....
@ Lee - now if i see somebody in the street with a walkman/ipod suddenly jump and turn round i will know what they are listening to
