My adoration of World Record is a weird thing. I probably can't justify as well as for the other classic VDGG ones, but nonetheless it really does work for me.

World Record is Rico's favourite by VdGG.

But that's Rico for you.

I'm in a very non-RIO mood today.

Reggae isn't awesome.

Yes' Roundabout is horrid.
That horrid cod-reggae of Rush is horrid.

Hammill-Reggae is fantastic,

The Special's Ghost Town (the album version) is also fantastic.

Going to have to contradict you there. Roundabout is an amazing song, and all the more so because it includes those elements. Primarily, it is actually a pop song, not a reggae one.

It's not the reggae that bothers me, it's THE REST of the song

Yes but the reggae part ruins it for me.

As it does for that Rush song.

There's nothing wrong with Meurglys III.  I've heard live versions of it and it's even more awesome.  It actually gives space for jamming, an all too rare occurrence in the VdGG live canon.

I don't know, I just find that whole album to be so blah. Maybe after the emotional explosion-fest of Still Life and Godbluff I was expecting a little bit more... effort... from the band.

Well compared to Godbluff and the mighty Still Life... yes, I know what you mean.

Wondering is a wonderful way to close and album though.

One of the better songs on the album, yeah.

I just really never cared for it! I love the rest of their discography.

Maybe, but I've always liked QZ/PD more. It's got more crazy stuff going on. Yellow Fever/Cat's Eye, Lizard Play, Sphinx In The Face - all favs from the band
