As subtle and sophisticated as a wet brick in your mush, Motorhead are still blowing out the cobwebs and upsetting the foundations of many a draughty hall - my fave (and one and only MH record) has always been the "Golden Years" EP (and trying to drum to "Overkill" ... ) .....loud and melodic!  and cheers to Lemmy - since having a bass guitar thrust into his hands and told to learn it all those years ago when with Hawkwind, he has even become something of a National character icon (like Ozzy...?  ) and still going strong by your reviews!

Isn't it odd though how age changes your attitude toward age... I remember when the (glorious) Golden Years EP came out & they played Top Of The Pops (live ) how old Lemmy looked. He's 63 on 24.12.08, so would only have been 35 at the time (I was a callow 17 year old)... 10 years younger than I am now

I think both Philthy Animal and Fast Eddie have teamed up with Lemmy for one off shows (there was a reunion gig for all 3 in 2000) but neither is in the current line up.

So, I've just recently signed up to this online dating website, in the hope that'll find someone as screwed up as me, to share the long winter evenings with.
I've been writing to this lovely 31 year old school teacher for the last two weeks, and I'm trying to establish her musical tastes. Tonight we got locked into a lovely discussion about what music is considered 'wierd'
I've just sent her two youtube clips, one of some Hip Hop dancers, throwing their track suit clad bodies all aound a stage in some competition, along with a clip of VDGG playing 'Plague..' in an attempt to illustrate that both performances are pretty 'wierd' in their own right, if viewed objectively.
Oh well, that'll be the last I hear from her..  I would normally keep VDGG in reserve for when I wanted to send a girl packing!

^ you'd be surprised, Andy, how many beautiful young women are turning up at Prog gigs these days  they soon get bored with Noizone, Drone Drone and Take Splat, and that rap stuff wont last, time to show them some real music (even VDGG ).
good luck with the online dating, but make sure they're not lying about their photo
i tried this some years ago but gave up as most of them are desperately insecure on their own, and are only after one thing!! (£).
realised most of my married friends were jealous i have so much freedom "between wives"

I tried online dating about 6/7 years ago, and gave up (although I came to the reluctant conclusion that this said more about me than the women concerned, so Andy shouldn't read anything into this..  ) ...although I have to disagree with Steve on this point. While the ones I dated weren't particularly mercenary, most had one thing in common... they were in their mid thirties and didn't want to be 'old mothers', therefore only had a couple of years left at most to make a decision on their future partner... body clock ticking and all that... 
a boy can do without that kind of pressure...
anyway, Good Luck, Andy...I really hope everything works out for you...

I'm not against the idea of having kids. With the right person it's fine. I'm not as enthusiastic as I was about five years ago. I'm going to be 40 in January, and dont relish the idea of being an 'old dad' either.
BTW, she just told me she thinks Phil Collins is great, and had no idea Gabriel had been in Genesis. So much to learn, bless her...

In my (admittedly limited) experience, the opposite sex has less interest in music and will generally go along with whatever you like if only for the pleasure of being "taken out" for the evening and as long as you acknowledge their existence at some point in the proceedings.
Apparently buying her sausage & chips form the chip-shop in Lydney doesn't count when her master plan of "getting something to eat on the way' involved a nice restaurant with comfy seating and metal cutlery. So, what do I know
Anyway, best of luck Andy.

aside from all the modern day connotations that presents, I remember wondering just how many Rush albums that could potentially amount to....

Actually that reminds me of two hideous concert going exeriences with a particular high maintenance girl friend. She was beautiful, which I guess is why I tolerated the tantrums and floods of tears for two years. We went to see Depeche Mode at Crystal Palace, and all I wanted to do was drink beer and dance my arse off. All she wanted to do was hang out and look cool with all her London goth mates. After numerous trips to the bar, and bogs, a blazing row ensued over why I had to have such a good time, while she was feeling 'moody' Exactly the same thing happened at the Cocteau Twins. Happy dayz.. 
Hopefully, my next victim wont mind being dragged to toilet sized venues to see bands only ten people have heard of!
