I read on DGM live today that due to Adrian Belew's solo tour a West Coast swing for King Crimson is in doubt.

i was wondering if kc was going to put out another album .
i thought i saw something after power to believe about a new album and the lineup and touring were a mystery until this past year with the 40t tour and gavin on drums . |

Memo to Belew:
Forget the solo tour. King trumps jack.

yea, BE the only guitarist again if you must. you dont NEED Belew. Fripp clearly doesnt need anybody. i mean, i love Belew, but if you must move on, even if temporary, then you gotta do what you gotta do. This is how KC operates. the only guy that has to be there is Fripp. Long as he's there, anyone can be on the stage with him
and yes, bring Cross and/or McDonald back Edited by darkshade - November 09 2008 at 13:11 |

I kind of agree. Belew is great, but he's not King Crimson, just as Bruford wasn't King Crimson. And heck, maybe even Fripp isn't King Crimson! :)
Maybe John McLaughlin could take Fripp's place? Or Allan Holdsworth? |

Who officially holds the KC name, anyway? Fripp says he's not Crimson, so theoretically, what could stop any number of guys climbing on-stage and calling themselves King Crimson (apart from a rioting audience, of course)?

I'm sure he owns the official name, given his demeanor, he'd be annoyed if he didn't. But when he says he's not Crimson, i think that means he's saying "i'm not the one you should be focusing on"

I think FRIPP owns the name..............
Remember a few years ago when Ian Mcdonald, Mike Giles, Peter Giles, Mel Collins, and later Ian Wallace performed together, the name of the band was 21ST Century Schizoid Band...not King Crimson 2 !!! Edited by febus - November 13 2008 at 23:06 |
