Just heard on the news that Russell Brand has resigned. at £200K per show I suspect that it's a decision that might sting a little.

Oh Censored - that guy hosted some awards show over here that was an utter failure - not one funny thing came out of his mouth, all his jokes fell completely flat.  I watched a little bit and can't understand for the life of me how he got famous in the UK or anywhere.  Talentless waste.  Thumbs Down

I could be desperately unamusing on Radio 2 for only half of what they paid that overrated irritant and I'd play better music. Maybe if I cultivate a heroin habit, go into rehab for sex addiction and write a booky wook...

Anyway, I'm just checking in briefly as I'm up in bonny and extremely chilly Scotland for half term (Appin - a beautiful spot between Fort William and Oban). I'll bring back some shortbread and some duty free haggis.

^^^ nice one Chris...have a good time..Clap

I've never listened to Radio 1 (except for Tommy Vance's Friday Rock Show...Embarrassed) but between the ages of 9 and 14, I listened to Radio 2 a lot... not listened to it in a quarter of a century though...(ever since I discovered Radio 4).  I expect its changed a bit since Gloria Hunniford, Ken Bruce & Jimmy Young, has it?
Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson

I'm a radio 2 addict I'm afraid, still listen to Ken in the mornings!  And although I missed Jimmy for a long time, I do enjoy Jeremy Vine, esp as he sneaks in the odd prog number, (its the sneaking in that has me smiling)  Steve Wright tends to annoy these days so he often gets switched off, but the evenings have some surprises (and some of them good) and I do love Sundays on R2 Approve

Hope Scotland is as lovely as usual Syz, and hoping you get the customs docs sorted for that shortbread and haggis (YUM)  try not to OD on deep fried marsbars though!

Please, please, please, go on the radio Chris! Maybe on your show, you could get in some of the current crop of pop acts and make them play their latest single in a Canterbury style.

That alone would be worth the licence fee!

I strongly suspect Brand's resignation was a case of one of the DG's minions taking him to one side, giving him the requesite letter and a pen & advising him to do the right thing - mind you, I'd have preferred them to use the WWII option of having a gentle chat with him & leaving him in a room with a loaded revolver - then filming the result & showing it on you-tube

Or is that a bit harsh?

Reminds me in a way of a company I used to work for - you always knew when someone had been sacked, as a memo went out saying that so-and-so had 'taken the decision to persue his career outside the TSB group'

Did you say ex vegetarian?

That's right sir, sixteen years under the lentil and proud of it, thank you sir.

What happened?

I was cured sir.

Cured?

Yes sir, a miracle sir.

Who cured you?

Jesus did.  I was parping along, when suddenly he comes and cures me.  One minute I'm a vegetarian with a slight aroma of eggs, next minute he gives me a bacon sandwich.  Not so much as a by your leave.  You're cured mate.

Big smile

Morning all, safely survived the weather and 33 Scouts.
Nice bit of hiking, some splendid scenery and I discovered probably the only person in the whole world who has "Cliff at Christmas" and albums by Cannibal Corpse (whose titles cannot be repeated here) on his laptop.
Just to show how changeable the weather was, these two photos were taken about an hour apart.

Nice one Neil - haven't had a good Python reference for a while (to be slightly pedantic though, I was 10 years under the lentil... and the last one of those years was a bit dodgy with an occasional bit of naughtiness )

I particularly liked the "bacon" "cured" synergy.
