http://www.genesisbox3.com

The site starts with playing "Counting Out Time", and if you click the album covers on the top right, you can hear the entirety of:

The Knife, The Musical Box, Harold the Barrel, Get 'em Out by Friday, I Know What I Like, The Cinema Show, Counting Out Time, The Carpet Crawlers, and Happy the Man.

It also includes sample footage of interviews and concerts.

The site also announces (I haven't seen it before) the box set in vinyl. I wonder how much that will cost...

The songs I definitely notice the most change in are The Knife and Harold the Barrel. Everything is much more clear, and especially with The Knife, much much more thunderous. The vocal effects on Peter's voice give me chills!

I'm officially excited for this!

Edit:

Major things I have noticed so far:

  1. The vocal effects in the Knife
  2. The clarity of Gabriel's voice in all songs
  3. The loudness of the guitar
  4. The vibrancy of the keyboards (especially the solos in the Cinema Show)
  5. The little things in Harold the Barrel are brought out to the forefront
  6. When I listened to the Musical Box, the drums seemed to be a bit in the background... not sure if this is actually the case, but they just seemed less powerful and in your face which is what I loved about the song in the first place

All of these contribute to the songs sounding like they were made now and not in the 70s. The muddle is gone and the production clear. I really wish I could hear what Watcher of the Skies sounds like now...

Thanks for the link! (although maybe I shouldn't be saying that - now I'm more tempted than ever to blow $125 on the set! LOL)

The new material seriously looks/sounds great - worth the price of admission methinks

Tempting! Didn't listen to any of the new mixes but looking at the content of the box it looks to be well worth it. Unfortunately the only album from the set I don't already have is The Lamb, maybe one day I'll buy it just for the hell of it and sell the doubles

Cool!
But the slightly muddy sound of the older CD releases is quite charming Approve

Listening to The Musical Box now. Sounds fantastic, a strange noise before the first solo, but the guitars sound great, the vocals are clearer and the whole thing sounds more powerful. Even the wet fish drums sound better.
Definitely going on my Xmas list.

Definitely going on my Xmas list.

Hmm, strange vocals effects on "The Knife" as noted by Kestrel, on the "some of you are going to die" bit.

dat wuz awesome.  looks like they "fixed" the part at the end of TMB where Tony drowns everyone out...I actually kinda liked it beforeLOL  The Knife sounded even better than before, especially the guitar solo - can't wait to check to other ones out.  Too bad the damn thing costs more than I have to spendCry

Well, I already pre-ordered mine at CDUniverse for $105.  Not a bad price for what you are getting.  I already have all the albums (only two of which are remasters though), but I still am buying this without hesitation.

I've gotta admit that especially the Knife sounds really really good. But the website is the worst flash monstrosity piece of sh*t I've ever seen. And I think I've got a pretty fast connection. I almost gave up before it had loaded the site one percent at a time in the first place and then I had to think for minutes (or at least one, but that's one too much) how to actually listen to those songs. Finally I found where to click and was left wondering if it really works until a couple of minutes later the song came blasting out of the speakers. Terrible, terrible site. And that one enthusiast a few posts up there actually went and said it was a good one. ErmmBig smile

I am excited to hear Trespass remastered. I had the '93 MCA version. Was it remastered? Did not sound like it. Love the song samples, but I noticed that the website was missing some pages for the booklet. For instance: the lyrics to the 2nd half of Cinema Show and all the lyrics from Harold the Barrel are missing. Wonder if some of the mistakes from the '94 "definitive edition" remaster are fixed? For example Fly on a Windshield and Broadway Melody of '74 were tracked wrong?

You should be tempted, as am I. I got $200 for my 26th birthday Now, I have no need for YouTube, as the box set will have plenty of quality DVD footage

You should keep the new versions. I have the new TOTT, W&W, ATTWT,  Duke, ABACAB, Shapes, Invisible Touch, and CAS mixes! They're better than any previous CD versions of these works. I got $200 for my 26th birthday, so I'm happy to blow a lot of money on the box set

JIF8882, I think you were replying to some posts(?)
Anyways, it's generally easier to click the "quote" button instead because then the post you are responding to shows up in your own post. Smile
