Does anyone know why King Crimson broke up the second time?
 
I've looked around online and can't really find to much info on it.
 
If anyone knows please tell me, or if it's already been posted on here just send me a link

Robert Fripp was sick of the record industry and he also thought the world was coming to an end.

Pretty much as well as Bill Bruford adding that they were tired of touring.

I guess it was a sudden decision as Fripp. Wetton and Bruford agreed to have Ian McDonald joining back the band after the RED sessions. So I guess Fripp woke up one morning and that was hasta la vista!!

I thought that was the first time they broke up in 1974, im talking about after three of a perfect pair in 84.

Pssh, that was their at least their fourth break-up. 
Breakup 1: Ian McDonald quits suddenly, Greg Lake decides to take Keith Emerson up on an offer to create a new trio. 
Semi-breakup: Gordon Haskell and Andy McCulloch are sick of Fripp and Seinfeld's fascist rule.  Haskell never does get the royalties he earned. 
Breakup 2: Fripp just suddenly gets bored of Boz Burrell, Mel Collins, and Ian Wallace.  Go figure.
Breakup 3: Fripp, Bruford, Wetton, and Ian McDonald agree to tour after Red.  Fripp suddenly backs out at the last minute. 
Breakup 4: Fripp, Bruford, Belew, and Bruford find it increacingly difficult to keep making good music after Discipline.  The band becomes frustrated and they get to be at each others' throats, in particular Bruford and Fripp.

Fripp is a moody dude, he breaks off with himself too on occasion. Go figure , a new incarnation will appear soon.
I never post anything anywhere without doing more than basic research, often in depth.

Yes, this would be the 3rd breakup, not the 2nd.

Fripp had the innate need, it seems, to not stick in the same artistic path for very long. The only way he could truly eventually find which direction to take next with his artistic outlets was to get rid of what he thought was clogging his current capabilities.
