I know that in order to submit a band, I need all sorts of information, but
I would just like to suggest a few bands here which deserve inclusion, just to
start a discourse.
I'm sure some of these bands have been discussed, but I want to have them reconsidered. Thanks! Crossover Prog: Lake Streets Experimental/Post-Metal: Earth Sleep Jazz Rock/Fusion: Baker, Ginger/Ginger Baker's Air Force Critters Buggin Halsall, Ollie Norgaard, Marc Jam Camp Noy, Oz Perpetual Groove School of the Arts Skerik/Skerik's Syncopated Taint Septet West, Andy White, Lenny Winter, Paul/Paul Winter Consort Vertú Mariani Human Beast Hurdy Gurdy Killing Floor Ram Salem Mass
Toe Fat
Zerfas Neo Progressive: Haze Prog Related: Cale, John Claypool, Les Wood, Roy/Roy Wood's Wizzo Band/Wizzard Progressive Folk: Nosy Parker Psychedelic/Space Rock: Bunn, Roger

A lot of these have been suggested and discussed before e.g. Budgie and Patto. With respect it would save the genre teams a lot of time if you could filter these out by searching through the Suggest New Band section. For the ones that haven't been suggested before, we will need MP3 samples, photos, biogs, web links etc as per the requirements. Thanks. |

Okay, I removed
Ginger Baker's Air Force Todd Rundgren The Pink Faires The Deviants Faith No More Budgie Patto Ween But I still think these bands should be added. Anyway, I'm new to the forum so I'm not exactly sure what to do. Should I just open a post about a certain band that contains all of this information (i.e. mp3's, photos, links, bios, etc.)? |

Hi Anoah, Welcome to the site and thank you for the band suggestions. It is PA's goal/motto to be the ultimate prog resource but there are so many bands out there we definitely count on band suggestions to find many bands that aren't currently included.
The long answer to your question is to check out this thread here:
You should probably check out that thread anyhow, but a quick response is that it is generally best to start a new thread with the bands name and suggested genre in the title. That way the specific genre teams are alerted that a band has been suggested for them to listen to. Within the thread, a quick summary about the band and why you feel they belong on PA is helpful, as well as links to the bands MySpace Page or Website, or other internet sources that might play music that can be listened to for judging the bands "progginess" as well as determining the best fit for a genre to include them in.
The quickest way to get a band included on PA is to also include a picture of the band and an original biography of the band that can be easily added to their PA page, or at the least can be used by the genre specialists to assist them with writing an original biography for PA. I hope that this helps. And thank you again for your assistance with finding the prog bands that may not otherwise have been found.

There is an 80's band called Streets that is fronted by Steve Walsh, similar to Asia as far as progginess, or even less so. Has an arena-rock feel. Definitely some prog influences, though, like the pop side of Kansas. I think it would fit nicely in Prog-Related.

I wouldn't say Jazz Prog...more like a good example of pop-infused prog or Crossover Prog. Some might argue Prog Related. You can listen to their samples at the myspace page link. There are some good tracks. Biography Another Biography Wikipedia Allmusic Rate Your Music |

I was reading about them. It turns out that Donovan's song "Hurdy Gurdy Man" was written for lead guitarist and friend Mac MacLeod but Donovan didn't like the version Hurdy Gurdy did, so he made a single out of it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hurdy_Gurdy_(band) http://www.amazon.com/Incredible-Musical-Odyssey-Original-Hurdy/dp/B00008RH9U/ And check out their Myspace page. |
