Tried cover to cover. Stopped at Numbers. I only know the typical stuff you hear in sermons and childhood.

Yes, I have read most of my copy of the King James Bible ( I skipped some of the really boring parts in the Old Testament). I was quite into bible reading when I was younger. And I've read New Testament Apocrypha.
I'd like to read more apocrypha... Kind of like prog, I'm more interested in the obscure stuff (texts not included in the bible). I have a general interest in religion, and religious texts.

I've read it all cover to cover a couple of times, and use it as reference frequently.
I have also read the Koran, and other texts.
I think it's important, there is so much political and social debate that harks back to religion/ethics/morals of some description, and like a lot of these things, urban myths and chinese whispers warp these texts out of context.

was an important part of my studies. I read the whole book. sometimes a bit repetitive, especially with them prophets, but it was not intended to win the Nobel Prize for literature

history, and I specialized in ancient and middle ages. believe me, you can't understand the middle ages without knowing the bible, and for some ancient history the bible is an important source too

Not being derogatory but I voted yes, but my version of The Bible would be The Silmarillion not the aforementioned

I have read bits of a couple of those (Gospel of Judus and Gospel of Mary Magdalene). With so many of the apocrypha being rejected by the early church, I was curious to see why (and perhaps understand better why) some gospels were included in the NT and why some were excluded.
From the OT era, I've also read The Book Of Watchers from The Book of Enoch, because I was interested in Paradise Lost at the time (the epic poem and the metal band ) and wanted to know more of the Fall of the Angels.

Another Tolkien fan, I see  ..... As for myself, I have read quite a good bit of The Bible, both Old and New Testament, though it was a long time ago. As BaldJean said, it is essential for understanding certain historical periods, and possibly a good part of Western civilization as well.
