Parmenter was (is?) the lead singer and songwriter for the band Discipline.  Discipline and Parmenter's solo work take loads of inspiration from VDGG.  Dark, moody lyrics, some great sax work, and Parmenter's voice sounds like a cross between Hammill and, at times, Gabriel a bit.  He also throws in some Genesis, KC, etc. for good measure.  Quite a good band and solo artist.

Highly recommended.
I can understand your anger at me, but what did the horse I rode in on ever do to you?

Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson
