LOL  Clap  LOL GReat post!

On tour every where you go in Europe (apart from France) you get sliced Dutch cheese for breakfast.......... we call it gig-cheese. Even the kids call it gig-cheese. It's the only time you could eat it, and then only cos you're STARVING!!!!

LOL

That's not the one I meant - what you're referring to as gig-chees hasn't aged at all, comes out of large factories that use steam dryers to ripen the cheese and then ship it off. If you'd give it time to ripen and age, it will taste a lot better, and you won;'t be able to slice it.

So by definition you're referring to me as a young'un?

That's the nicest thing anyone's ever said to me...

Correction - the nicest thing anyone's ever said to me was 15 years ago today, when Vicky said "I do"

Clap Congratulations!!!

forgive me Angelo...I personally have a VERY great fondness for your nation and its people... over the centuries, your small nation has consistantly punched above its weight in terms of giving the world architecture & design, the arts & culture, trade & commerce, technical innovation and the advancement of the secular society....ClapClap

As with many things in life and lunchtime, there is cheddar and there is Cheddar - for some bizarre reasoning of bureaucracy, real Cheddar cheese doesn't have whatever the cheese equivalent of an Appellation contrôlée is, so any old tat manufactured in a pasteurised factor thousands of miles away from Somerset can pass itself off as cheddar. The real stuff is pale yellow, almost white in colour, not orange (which is just colouring), is crumbly and has a sharp tangy flavour that will bite back.

^yeah I've had that white Cheddar, much superior to the common stuff, almost like a crumbly sheepsmilk cheese

Now Dean, that is probably the most accurate description of what is going on here. The same applies to Rach's gig-cheese vs. my old dutch.

Can we move back into the shed now, it's getting cold out here.

It's nice and sunny over here, but not too warm. Time for tea and biccies I think.

I'll settle for that - if they're not cheese biscuits, that is.

Anyway, I'll be off now, presenting at a conference this afternoon.

Chocolate biscuits I think - you need to keep your blood sugar levels high if you're giving a presentation.

no smell??  no taste?? Confused

proper cheddar should not only have a pungent 'smelly sock' aroma about it, but should also blow the roof of your mouth off....Approve

Steady Jared, it's not as if we are immune to a little traditional cheese ritual here either:

You're right Jared - much more of an achievement for Vicky than I

Many thanks everyone for the kind thoughts & congratulations everyone - over 20 years together & 15 years married; just about bucks every trend on modern relationships

Damn you Rachel - you've seen through our 'cool and aloof' pretence (and we thought we were so cool you could keep cheese in us)
