X JAPAN

they do the ending credits of saw 4 with a wicked double bass groove, they sound like dream theater and Triviums baby. Amazing stuff. My new found band I think they should be considered prog.

listen to I.V. its awesome.

^^ Hi Chase,

many thanks for your recommendation...Smile

would you like to start a thread in the 'Suggest New bands' category?  If you are able to make a suggestion as to which genre of prog they fall into (Traditional Prog Metal?), that would also be very helpful, for our teams....Wink

best regards

Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson

X-Japan are not a new band as such, being pioneers of the Visual Kei scene in the late 90s, they split in 1997 and reformed last year. More info here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/X_japan

Gackt has recently formed a band with former members of X Japan and Luna Sea called S.K.I.N. No samples available yet as they haven't recorded any: http://www.myspace.com/skintheband

addendum: checking on the ProgFreak chart, X-Japan were rejected by the PMT sometime back...perhaps they could be re-evaluated if a new album is released in the future.

well i was kinda of promoting this song and knowing that people don't always go to this forum i put it in different forums so people could check them out, those who are not familiar with them.

I wish you would ask us first if we would like it moved and if we don't give you a good reason to move it then you just move. Just a user friendly idea.

If its posted in the wrong place, its going to get moved why should the original poster be asked, they didnt check were to put it first, or deliberatly did it wrong.

Art of Life seemed pretty proggy to me, but that was it. Oh wait, a band needs just one album of prog to be added so YES!!!!

That is not how the forum works and if you are using it in that way then you are potentially missing out on a lot of interesting posts and great new music. All collaborators who are involved in adding new bands look in this area and not the general lounges for those bands, so if you are looking for or looking to promote a band not listed in the arhive, Suggest New Bands is the place to look.

Active Topics shows new posts in all areas, not just the "busy" areas.

When I was in Taipei I happened across a sort of X Japan listening party in a public square... hundreds of kids turning out to watch live videos of X, and really getting into it.  Apparently the cool taiwanese kids are into this band.  the drummer from X showed up to announce a tour stop in taiwan, then they lit up the top of Taipei 101 (a very tall building) with the words 'We Are X'.

I'll post a pic of it later on, it was crazy.  I had never heard of them before, and just thought they were big in asia.
