Sorry people.
It was last minute nerves. I have my annual appraisal at 10 o'clock this morning. I put some fairly damning comments on my appraisal form and I am expecting a 'deep and earnest' discussion with the boss. Amendment. Appraisal cancelled.Huzzah! Edited by Man Erg - October 02 2008 at 04:56 |

Lucky escape Lee, or is it just a delayed inevitable?
One year my boss wrote "doesn't suffer fools gladly" on my appraisal, to which I took great exception, explaining to him that I was extremely patient and understanding of people who had less knowledge and skill than me, I just don't like them telling me how to do my job.

maybe he'd done something unusual for senior management....
actually read your appraisal form comments, ahead of calling you in...
then decided on a slightly more enjoyable form of displacement activity, like cleaning the office toilets...

remember that well known addage of Murphy's Law, Dean...
everyone is promoted to the level of their own incompetence, and then stays there...

Agreed about most of those, but Jason King is still good for a laugh, and how can anybody dislike Oh No It's Selwyn Froggit?
On second thoughts you're right. The funniest thing about Oh No It's Selwyn Froggit was the title.

Wasn't it the Peter Principle? True in most cases, whatever it's called.

happily I'm a lot more laid-back than I use to be, and can accept that my bosses have different skill-sets to me.

I think that it's a ruse so that he can formulate an application for me to receive a pay rise... Oink,oink.Flap.flap. |

My first visit to the O2 last night to see Stevie Wonder. OK, let's get all the "he didn't see you" jokes out of the way now. OK, I was impressed with the sound, probably the best I've heard at a large venue. Slight lack of bottom end but then we were high up. Actually, we were so high up there were oxygen masks under the seats and Sherpa Tensing was in the row behind me.
Main problem was edging your way along the row to your seat. There's not enough room to walk in the normal feet side by side manner, so you have to sort of edge along sideways, occasionally deciding whether to grab hold of the attractive young lady in the seat next to you or plummeting 6 feet down into the next row.
I just about managed it with a beer and a glass of wine, but my dear sister-in-law then knocked the wine over everyone's coat. This was after she -
1) lost all her cash somewhere on the way to the venue
2) dropped her phone into the row in front of us so they all had to stand up and look for it.
3) got her coat jammed in her chair
4) knocked the afore-mentioned glass of wine over
5) broke her necklace so we all had to look for bit of it on the floor.
Anyway, great gig. What a voice!

^^ I've just come back from my local newsagent, but they aren't being delivered until tomorrow, so she's setting a copy aside for me...(ahhh rural Herefordshire life...). I hope you're right about Butterworth & Finzi too... I have some of the former on a CD which I play in the hostel reception, and people often comment on it...
Alan...all I can say is yes, I've been to concerts etc with people like your dear Sis-in-law too...(spilling their ice cream over my programme...) I know exactly what you mean...

....as long as you enjoyed yourself!
heavy metal gigs at the Apollo sound less bothersome... if i ever go to 02 again i will prepare myself with rope, hammer, pitons and climbing boots..
i saw Stevie W. in a TV interview recently and he came over as a bloody nice bloke, very down to earth, glad you enjoyed seeing him!

Listening to Chris Moyles a few weeks back with Noel Gaga-lager, (i don't normally, but I'd forgotten totake any CDs with me and had to listen to the radio in the car - spent most of the time laughing my head off) - Moyles asked "What's the new single like then...?" to which Gagagagagallaager replied (sardonically) "Like all our other singles, but with different words."
