1. Systematic Chaos (simply brilliant, conformation of huge class)
2. Six degrees of inner turbulence (title-track !)
3. Images and words (essential break-through for the band and start of a new genre !)
4. Awake (emotion !)
5. Scenes from a memory (same, but in a different way)

Awake, Dreams and Images, Octavarium, Scenes from a memory, 6dOI and Train of Thought are very popular so far!!!!

Keep the lists coming please

I'm not surprised about that, Awake, Scenes and Images and Words are all classics of the genre by most Prog metal fans reckoning, and Octavarium and ToT are very much love or hate albums, I hate Octavarium and love ToT but some people are the other way round.

What does surprise me is the love for Falling Into Infinity, such a poor album for them.

Andy, didn't they say that they were going to try and rework FII and release it in the manner they had originally wanted to, without record company pressure?...Smile

Geezus, I hope not.
I honestly think they couldn't just go back to a 11 year old album and do that, it really doesn't seem right.

Love it, hate it or in between, FII is what it is... because it written and released as it was in 1997.

Dream Theater are a lot better off working on making the next studio album better... the last two weren't great (although I would at least give SC 3 stars) and if the next album isn't anything less than amazing I don't see myself having anymore faith in them making anything exciting and fresh after that and that would be a shame, because they were one of the bands that really got me into prog.

In a way, they have already: http://www.progarchives.com/album.asp?id=16878

This is effectevely how the album looked before the record company hacked it to pieces.

Yea. As inconsistent as the album is, it still has some great tracks, though.

In no particular order

SFAM
SDoIT
Octavarium
Images and Words
Awake

Plus my usual dig at the crap drumming which, without it - or at least without the crap snare and cymbals, would improve all DTs albums no end. When is someone going to tell them? This drummer's ability to screw up fantastic music should be legendary!
