Good for you. I didn't use sparknotes in high school until I needed to review books from 9th/10th grade for the AP lit exam at the end of 12th grade.

I think Sparknotes are acceptable if one reads the book, but then later needs a basic plot refresher. I don't think it should be substituted for actually reading the book.
