With a bassoon, the more sharps/flats, the more irregular fingerings (for example, C#/Db in the middle range needs one to press down 3 out of the 10 left thumb keys at once) hence making it harder to play.

Ahhh okay.
I love learning new stuff about other instruments:)
On guitar, it's kinda hard to explain, but when I only knew the major scales (i.e without knowing modes) it just seems to make everything harder to visualize and I ended having to sorta "guess" too often while improvisation.
Once I started studying the modes of the major scale and the chord relationships between them, suddenly improvisation became far more natural and I wouldn't be blindly hitting notes that didn't fit over a given chord or arpeggio.
Like any instrument, guitar is as easy or as hard as you make.. choose to stop learning at a certain point and you can make yourself believe you've mastered the instrument.
Never stop learning, and that's at the point you realize you'll never master an instrument.

I saw Univers Zéro in concert 2 weeks ago.

And btw, jokes apart, you guys should really check Fantasia (1929) out. It's a stunning movie with great music.
