To misquote Peter Hammill: who needs cars anyway?
I certainly need mine.

I'm going to haunt a guess that "total it" is the US equivalent of the term "write off", being that it's cheaper to replace than to repair. The way you made it sound when you first told me about it, it didn't sound bad to the extent of it needing to be "written off"

The entire back windshield is shattered, and there is significant body damage to the entire rear of the car. Although I just looked up that a fair market value for my car would be $7000, so I would think damages would come in at less than that and the insurance company will pay to repair it.

Ahhh. I guess the positive side comes through in that it wasn't any worse. It's funny how something as seemingly simple as the other driver travelling faster could have made the overall impact more complex. When you really think about how those really simple things made the difference in whatever the event having had less impact, it's almost shocking in a way. Maybe I just need sleep though, it's 1:15am

And I wasn't even that excited about Guapo or Infernal Machina. Not that they're bad, mind you, quite good actually. edit: and yes PdP is indeed great, that second album is really a favorite.

I thought BLD was definitely one of the best of 2008, for sure. I had never even heard Kayo Dot before this year to be honest, but BLD was just stunning and enough to make me want to hear motW stuff too.
