Ok.. You have been stranded on a desert island with just enough food and water to survive, but for some strange reason a band is also stuck with you, and have their instruments at hand and basically will play for you day in and day out.

From the bands I have placed here which one would you be prepared to be stuck with, what tracks from their repertoire would you wish them to play (up to 10), and they will also be prepared to play your favourite song.

Personally, I'd be happy to be stranded on a desert island with any of those 3 bands.  My votes goes for Journey however, since I have seen them about 10 times.  It would be even cooler however, if it were Steve Perry that would be doing the performing since I have yet to have that pleasure.

which incarnation of journey? I've only heard the infinity on so can't say for the first two albums- don't particularly like the popular stuff i've heard. Boston only had two good albums (third stage is okay) though i think i'd get tired of them. Probably styx-while they only had two-three good albums they had good songs scattered throughout their first 9 or so albums and i think i'd get a lot less tired of them.

OK,I'll play.

Styx,but I could also make a solid wish list from the other bands.

From Styx 1;
Movement from the common man.
What has come between us.
From Styx 2;
A Day.
From Serpent;
Grove of eglantine.
Serpent is rising.
From Man of Miracles;
Man of miracles.
From Equinox;
Lorelei
Suite madame blue
Midnight ride.

Yeah,thats it.
If I had picked Journey,it would have been songs from their 2 first albums,and I would probably have done the same with Boston.

This is relatively easy for me, since I like Styx, don't like Boston, and don't like Journey too much after their third album.

Songs:  Movement for the Common Man, Serpent is Rising, Suite Madame Blue, Mother Dear, Miss America, Castle Walls, Renegade, Queen of Spades, Snowblind, Heavy Water.

Mighty nice of Styx by the way to play for me day and night, but can they only remember how to play 10 of their songs?  As much as I like Styx though, I think by the third day of only hearing those ten songs, I'd put them to work building a raft.  Wink

I can understand your anger at me, but what did the horse I rode in on ever do to you?

Journey for me....esp if its Infinity, Evolution, Departure & Captured....Clap

strangely, I never got into the 3 pre-Perry albums, and frankly you can keep most of the Jonathan Cain inspired AOR...

...just give me those 4, and I'll be happy....Big%20smile
Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson

Asia. That way, I could hear "Starless" AND "Heat of the Moment." Schweet.

I went with Styx for the only reason that Journey was good IMHO until Perry joined and made them a Top 40 machine. Styx does have some good music although some over blown theatrics. I am totally burned out on Boston.

Styx is also a river that can maybe lead me away from Wilson the volleyball and find my way back to my prog collection in the comfort of my den (where I can choose from soooooooo much)
I never post anything anywhere without doing more than basic research, often in depth.

The answer really depends on the amount of food available on the island.  If there is plenty of food, Styx would provide the most listening enjoyment.  If there is no food, I would rather have Journey there since I would feel the least guilt about eating them.
