Jewish New Year. Huge holiday here in my town, where 40% of the population is Jewish. They actually have to make detours and close off major streets for Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur.

No time off for Jewish holidays here except I think you don't have to go to class but you still need to do the work.

I've grown up in a very Jewish town. On Saturdays, there are tons walking to synagogues to the point that we have to be careful driving. I personally dislike Orthodox Judaism. My family's Reform, meaning we don't go to synagogue every week and don't keep Kosher. I am the only one in my family who is an atheist.

One that never did anything. My mother's mother is Jewish, so she is, so I am. Never went to Hebrew school or anything.

There are way too many problems with Orthodox Judaism. For one, it's sexist. I'm not one of those over-assertive feminists, but I do think it is unfair that women are supposed to be almost property of men. I also do not agree with not writing, playing music, using electricity, etc. on Saturdays.

5 years of Catholic high school was bad enough for me. Not that it was a bad school, I just really got sick of the religion crap.

I never had a Bat Mitzvah. I missed out on a ton of cash, but it just wasn't worth it to me. I've been to Israel many times, but never as a religious trip or anything like that.

Not to mention that our high school was one of the worst religion-wise. I would've been fine with Dr. Carroll for our last two years of religion.Wink

Dude, one year of Catholic school was enough for me.LOL
I never "got" religion. I could never differentiate between a guy who plants three magic beans and goes up a giant beanstalk to guy who turns water into wine and raises the dead. They were all fairytales to me.

I would have too. He was actually a good teacher, even if I didn't care about the subject matter at all.

Well, I suppose that's been an upside to my day today. I don't have to worry about anyone like Mr. I anymore. Dead
