Hey,
I recomend Ne Obliviscaris and Be'lakor for Tech/Extreme Prog metal. Both are from Australia. Ne Obliviscaris is a bit more progressive than Be'lakor. Both are great bands but Ne Obliviscaris is really just amazing. http://www.myspace.com/neobliviscaris http://www.myspace.com/belakor Jake |

You guys should really add Ne Obliviscaris into the archives. They're amazingly original, progressive, and talented. I don't want to see them neglected.

Ne Obliviscaris are one of the dwindling number of metal bands I like these days.

Not from Australia but what about Nachtmystium? They're sort of a black metal version of Pink Floyd, lots of spacey stuff. Get the album Assassins: Black Meddle Pt. 1 . Their old stuff is NOT progressive.

This song's FANTASTIC. The whole album's good actually. Too bad their earlier stuff is sort of sh*tty though. |

Well, I think that BM PF is a bit too far but they're obviously influenced by PF. |

As for genre they could go under either Post-Metal or Tech/Extreme Metal. That's not even the best song on the album. The three Seasick songs are the highlights imo.

No problem!
I added all three bands to ProgFreak btw. I don't know how to refer them over to PA though. http://progfreak.com/Nachtmystium-,_dbe,artists,_auto_8632335.xhtml http://progfreak.com/Be-lakor,_dbe,artists,_auto_5712687.xhtml http://progfreak.com/Ne-Obliviscaris,_dbe,artists,_auto_829497.xhtml Jake Edited by Jake Kobrin - September 20 2008 at 23:38 |

I've added them all to the PMT charts. I'll let you know if they get approved or not soon.

Can you also continue the discussion for Deathspell Omega?
http://progfreak.com/Deathspell-Omega,_dbe,artists,_auto_6901063.xhtml?path=overview I can't think of anything better to call them than Progressive Black Metal. They aren't progressive in the sense of how Dream Theater or Ihsahn is progressive. They don't use keyboards or anything like that. But yet they are VERY progressive. Their lyrics especially. Their lyrical content deals primarily with Satanism on a metaphysical level, and other various theological topics. Their music itself is also very complex. They use many dissonant chords to create complex textures and harmonies much like Wolves in the Throne Room. They are, at a minimum, avant-garde. Deathspell Omega would fit nicely into the tech/ extreme prog metal genre. Not because they are technical but they are certainly extreme and avant garde influenced.

IMO Fas – Ite, Maledicti, in Ignem Aeternum is better and more progressive than Kénôse. Both are great though.
