Our wonderful IT department spent the whole of last week setting up worldwide synchronised systems testing for disaster recovery trials on Saturday, but forgot one minor detail - telling our building's owners we required the building to be open on Saturday.

Luckily I got the call on Friday evening - I would not have been a happy bunny had I turned up on Sarturday to find the offices locked up.

So - no additional day in lieu for me... bs!

But on a better note, Vicky and I spent a good few hours in the sun on Saturday and Sunday educating the garden & disposing of shed-junk.
Speaking as part of an IT department, we never bother about minor details like a building being open. That's an admin job!

This is what they want - a good fire

because iconoclasticism gives people the misplaced illusion of credibility, Steve...ConfusedI have to be honest, it sounds like the first album of theirs in 20 years, that I'd actually enjoy listening to.. must pick a copy up, along with a bit more Handel...LOL

Face it - everyone's been waiting for them to fall flat on their faces again since the horridness that was 'St Anger' & just don't want to be proved wrong; from the little I've heard, sounds like a bloody strong album (Hetfield's voice has improved no end, now he's removed his head from up his arse )

I've raised this before on the forum - why do things always break down in threes?

In the last week the dryer part of our washer dryer has stopped drying, yesterday I got our digital video camera out and that's now broken and tonight our fan oven has also stopped heating (a bit of a drawback with an oven). Could be an expensive month.

After several months of toil (and about 5 years of planing and procrastinating), Darq Towers now has a moat to repel invaders:

Added the final touches this weekend and transfered the fish from their temporary home in a large tub to the relative luxury of a 2000 litre pond. Approve

If nothing else I now know not to give up my day job to become a brickie.

Probably because one is unfortunate, two is careless and three has to be retribution of some kind (i.e. Someone Else's Fault!)

Very nice Dean, and here I thought I had done well by planting a few shrubs...Confused

Ah well, still have a lot to tackle on the inside - want to replace almost all the doors, and my basement looks like a Texas Gulf Coast town (sorry if that's too crass Embarrassed)

Thanks Pat - must admit I used it as an excuse not to do chores around the house - I'll be laying a new bathroom floor next weekend - slightly less enjoyable (can't see what's wrong with the old one myself)

Now the sun has set, the same scene by night:

I would just like to advise the Shed that my arms are now covered in scratch marks as a result of spending a couple of hours 'educating' my plants...Ouch

and I've just had to mow the lawn AGAIN...I filled a whole black bin liner with 2 week old growth...what is it with this September??...Confused

Coming from farther north (New England), where you never heard a lawnmower after school started back up in September, I was dismayed to find that I regularly have to mow well into October down here!  Ouch

I've argued along similar lines for some projects myself, to be informed that my opinion is not the relevant one in my house.  Wink

If you're anything like me you probably spend longer choosing what to listen to than you do actually doing the job.

But it's such a critical decision!  The next 30-60 minutes of your life hangs in the balance!  Wink
