*sigh*

Why am I going for a Master in biology? Disapprove

Especially when you could go for a degree in Finance instead.Big%20smileWink

No, of course not. It's just that I see no appeal in it whatsoever. Boring, and probably murdering competition LOL

Lets go back to the original question then. Why are you getting a Masters in Biology?

Because it's one of my biggest interests after all. Along with history and political science. The hard part was choosing what I like the most. Haven't really decided yet, but here I am.

I know how you feel about not having decided. I'm about 90% sure that I want a Finance degree, but even if I change my mind, I figure I'll just look for something else business-related. Anything that allows me to involve handling large amounts of money sounds like a good idea to me.LOL

Speaking from experience there is more money from an accounting degree than there is from a finance degree; but that is only if you have any interest into becoming a CPA.  The sky is the limit as a CPA; especially as a big 4 CPA, although I hear that you are worked to death the first couple of years, and at times you are cubbyholed in what you learn.  But the opportunities are great afterwards whether in public or private accounting.  If you are more interested in being a personal financial planner or working as a corporate accountant or financial analyst than the finance degree is probably the way to go.

Probably going to the library to read some stuff in about an hour or 2.

Sounds nice.
I've got biochemistry to read myself. Not as inspiring, but have to be done. Soon-ish.

I'm leaning towards either personal financial planner or a financial analyst, so I should be able to do quite fine. That and I read how the job market for financial planners and analysts is supposed to keep increasing until 2016, so I think I'm headed in the right direction.

Any stuff in particular you want to read about or just see what looks interesting?

That's cool.  The job market for CPAs is going to be phenomenal as well as the baby boomers are all retiring.  And of course with them all retiring they also all need personal financial planners.  I've considered switching to that area myself.  Pretty tough area right now, especially with the markets volatility.  Good luck!!!
