No ones home at my house in 2 weeks. Y'all get some money together and come party here. Bring some cool Zeuhl to listen to as well, it would absolutely make my friends say "WTF is this music?"

Haha, that'd be so awesome. Maybe someday someone should try to organize a SR (re)union or something. (That's actually a serious idea though, as I agree entirely that the SRs are way cooler than most people I know.... EVERYONE TO JAMES'S HOUSE! )

I think it's way too controversial, personally. It's just like any other sub-genre, with its share of good bands and share of bad bands. Only exception is RIO/Avant/Zeuhl which has no bad bands.

I love prog metal. I know it doesn't have a good reputation here, but that doesn't change anything for me.
"PORG METUL, DAT'S NUT PORG ROCK" they all say.

Lmao. He's still very much into metal, he just likes prog across all the sub-genres as well. He likes mainly prog metal now; I don't think he listens to any other metal too often.

I guess that's where I'm so different from many PA folk... all I used to listen to was metal for ages. Speaking of DT, once I get a 7 string guitar, I can finally get around to learning some of the songs that use 7 strings, like Caught in a Web etc

David (birdwithteeth) used to be the exact same way, until I showed him Kansas and Genesis about a year ago (*looks at date*... wow, almost exactly a year, if not exactly). I quickly showed him a bunch of other crap, which he really liked too. That would be awesome. Caught in a Web is a good song.

I couldn't decide on what to hear so I went with Anesthetize. One of the best songs ever.

My metal is pretty much limited to DT, Meshuggah, and Opeth. And some PT, along with ounces of metal in other things. I never was the biggest metal fan in the world, but I like it much more now than I did.
