There are usually certain times that the atmosphere in here is much more quiet or rushed... now isn't too bad most of the time with some people online who come in here (KoS, NaturalScience, etc.), but for some reason they're not posting.

I never directly met you, but I surfed the forums on PA on and off since 2005; I just never actually registered under this account and posted until early 2008 (after you took an absence). Interestingly enough, there have been little discussions about you and Ansen lately. Ansen made an appearance that I saw a bit back (can't remember for sure, a month maybe?), but it was really short and I don't think he's been here since.

Glad to hear people still talk about me. Wink

And I'm happy to hear Ansen is still alive. LOL

Haha, yeah, I'm sure some others would be glad to see you. I don't know when they'll be in here next though.

No problem. Take your time. I bet that's interesting! Big%20smileI don't have a music class this semester. Cry  I'm hoping to schedule one to cover one of my last general education requirements in the Spring though.
There is no prog rap, but there is good rap.I have yet to hear any, but then again I've hardly heard any rap and it's not quite to my taste anyway.

It is very interesting, however the course only covers until 1970 so no prog/RIO.

And want good rap?
See sig, first row, fifth across

Ah, dang. But it's good that it's still interesting; I'd still take it nonetheless as well.

I haven't actually heard any, so I have no clue whether I actually would find it tolerable or like it or not. Maybe I should hear some.

Awesome.

Well, things are a bit mixed on my end, but overall pretty good I suppose. We felt Hurricane Ike here yesterday, which was odd since we usually just get a crapload of rain at the most... the winds knocked over some power lines and trees, so my college was actually closed entirely today (I assume it'll be fine by tomorrow). That was nice, as I was supposed to have 2 tests today, but kinda a bad thing since now I just have them on Wednesday (I wanted to get them over with) and because I had to find more activities to do today since I wasn't planning on it. I also didn't find out until 6:30 after I had already woken up and taken my shower because I decided to go to bed early. Oh well.

And then I've been having a few relational issues (love/friendship-related), and they're not really much to drive home about, I'm just worried for another person and with the absence of anything actual to do today I keep thinking about all of the circumstances, etc.

Wow, that was a rambled answer. Oh, and I get a bonus point for my mood since I'm currently listening to Magma and could be getting pizza tonight. Big%20smile

The only seemingly really good music class that my college offers is a Jazz one, so I'll probably take that. Most others are higher-level for music majors (being an Accounting major, it's not a general requirement to know alot about music LOL) or they're music appreciation classes... which are boring. Dead

Thanks for the condolences. The relations/situation will definitely be fine, however. It's just a little temporary bump I hope. I've personally been fine, but you know how it is when someone you care infinitely about is going through some tough circumstances.

I know this is such a vague and open-ended question, but what are your favorite bands/musicians, Bern? (Since I never really got to talk to you before)

It's indeed a really vague question. LOL

Hmm... well let's just say that if I go by PA genres, I'd say my favorite prog genres are Canterbury, Krautrock, RIO and Fusion... and I really like the bands in the new (?!) eclectic prog genre... (wasn't there last time I've been here).

I don't really like to talk about genres though usually. My favorite bands have been for example : VdGG, Soft Machine, Caravan, Gong, Can, King Crimson, Comus... just to name the big ones.

I'm of course a big fan of jazz. It's partly what made me get into prog and I myself try to be a jazz musician.

I'm also probably the biggest fan of 70s Québecois music on Progarchives. I like a lot of those bands but especially Harmonium, Maneige and Opus 5. I'm also fond of modern québecois music at large with bands as different as Malajube or Karkwa for example.

My absense from PA resulted in me discovering and getting into a whole lot of new music genres and bands. I'm more open-minded than ever.

I guess that would be a quick answer to your question. Wink

Sounds like a good answer to me. Big%20smile

Awesome. People on here tell me I have a wide-ranged musical taste (when it comes to prog or any kind of non-pop/generic music Wink), so as to sub-genres... not sure there, as I at least like them all. Though my new favorite is probably RIO/Avant or Zeuhl and I don't really like Post-rock too much, but that's mainly it. My last.fm charts my musical taste roughly since December 2005 and you can see that in my signature, so that gives you some idea. Tongue

My dad introduced me to Rush back in 2004 and that started my love for music. (Who would have guessed? Tongue) They'll probably always be my favorite; I'm a die-hard Rush fanboy (though I am for many other bands as well, including Magma, Ozrics, etc.... Rush will always hold a really special place for me)
