hahahhah...    not surprised at all....  he has done that before.  The last time he left in a huff.  There is a right way to express your displeasure and leave if you chose to.. and some to their credit have taken the high road ...then again some don't.  Shame the review has to be used as a place to voice that.

5%20stars Scarsick... a highly underrated album. While Scarsick is my least favorite PoS album thus far, it is by no means bad. The band continues to blur the line seperating different genres and has made something that's different from everything they've done before it. This is easily the least progressive album they've released, but that doesn't keep me from loving it.

Scarsick can't be generalized - every song is radically different from the last. You've got the goofy pop- ish oddity of America, the rap-rock Spitfall, and of course Disco Queen. All very different, but all very good. The track that stands out the most, as usual, is the closer: Enter Rain. A very atmospheric track with a saddening end.

The lyrical content is what I enjoy most about Scarsick, and it's some of my favorite work from Gildenlow yet. I'd say it's the most blatant in it's meaning than on previous albums, but it's still very well written. I can identify with a lot of it too, so it clicks on a personal level.

If you're offended by freedom of speech, avoid this album. Otherwise, it's a great album that sounds like nothing else. It doesn't hold up to the brilliance of Remedy Lane / Be / Perfect Element, but really, what can? "

It's his least favourite PoS album and not as good as 3 of their others, so how the hell can it warrant 5 stars?

Just answering this:

Prior to me getting hold of The Least We Can Do Is Wave To Each Other, Pawn Hearts was my least favourite VDGG album, and not as enjoyable as three of their others. Nonetheless, it'd still be in my top 20 albums of all time and I would consider it a masterpiece (see review for complete explanation). Believe this guy's in the same situation, and I felt he did well justifying his position.

What Erik wrote in the review in my mind sounds very provocative.

We must accept that today all the music 'complicated' is described as Prog (Progressive) and PA can not remain deaf to all this. For example just leave aside everything that does not like and focus only on what you want to promote (even causing, if civilly and constructively).

I can understand that the insertion of I Pooh in PA has offended the sensibilities of many. Yet until 1975 clearly had some Prog elements in their music and today in Japan and South Korea (especially) are very collected by collectors of Italian Prog. Even if I Pooh inclusion in the PA can not find it totally correct
we must also take into account what I said above.

And it is in this direction that PA (rightly) must look to stay in step with the times. And I am sure of this, Erik has understood. But not accepted.

And I say this with pride, says that one of misfortune in life has been so much... But that now sees everything under another perspective.

Comments noted, and will be addressed. The commercial link in Erik's reviews has the full approval of M@x, indeed he facilitated it.

I think that, also, this rule could be underlined:
7 - Remember that your reviews will be on the relevant album’s page for all to read for many years to come. Do not therefore word your review with only the front page (which shows the latest reviews) in mind. Consider whether the review will still make sense in 5 years time and more.

The extra part in Erik's review basically means that, even quicker than in 5 years by now, no one will understand the purpose of those written things. Times changes, and I've said, they could even bring Erik back (in case he actually left - again).

I think Erik has announced numerous times to leave (running the same arguments) and yet he returned ever so often.

The personal note could be erased for the purpose of the review, but I'm sure Guigo and Bob will decide best. It's anyway extra read, the reviewing part is, as usual, okay.

Whilst I relate to some new band addition sentiments I must say i am quite surprised by Erik's comments especially in a review..............Confused

I also picked up on that review chopper is referring to when it was posted and it did strike me as strange at the time ?  then I thought about it and maybe its on the wrong side of five stars if you catch my drift ?  I mean there is no questions asked five star ratings and then there is the 4 1/2 stars but we cant have half stars so we round it to five stars type rating.   few,  glad I have finished typing that I couldn't stand to type it again,  hope it makes sense.     Confused

Best if you raise this in "Report bugs" section, this section is for discussing reviews.

I was wondering what that popupcontrol thing was, how do I go about fixing this, I didn't think I had a firewall judging my some other sites I'm able to visit, lol. another poster suggested I delete my PA cookies? I know what cookies are, but how I do I specifically delete them from this site?? Please bare with my somewhat computer incompetence, lol, thx guys. I also post on plenty other boards, never had this problem. _popupControl();

AH, yes... the _popupControl() script in the posts suggest that Kix is using CA Personal Firewall - this could be the cause of problem...

Try deleting your PA cookies before logging in. Also, the log in can sometimes have problems with a firewall (my zonealarm doesn't seem to like it), so you could try logging in the the firewall off, then reactivate it.

Weird, its probably me with the operator error, idk. maybe I'm not activated yet, even thou its says I'm active, lol. Oh well, this blows, but I guess I'll try back in a couple days.

_popupControl(); quick question, so I'm now a member, logged in and everything, but when I go over to an album page, scroll down, it says, you are not logged in, I click it, login, go back, and it still says you are not logged in. I don't know what the deal is. Anyone who knows whats up please help, if not, its cool too.

^good post, Greg.

My main point is even simpler: I don't think we should enlarge the site's purposes to review critics, when discussing prog counts most - and it is done in this forum. Any critic concerning a review can very well happen in this topic (or in the other one, but only when concerning abuse).
