What about Circulations by Pierre-yves Macé? I wasn't particularly impressed by his debut on Tzadik on my first listen, but I hear that one is better.

They're too repetitive and I find the writing more than a bit dull. It's like they're trying to write pop/rock, but are making everything dissonant instead of consonant.

I don't have the new Zs but I am friends with them on MySpace, so I'll take a listen to some samples.

I have some of their older albums and they need more listens.

15 minutes of music is always a nice deal, even if it's not good.
 
I like the idea of Zs (well at least at the beginning, maybe they've gotten much more minimalist), but I've never been moved by what I've heard of them. Maybe I don't get "post-minimalism", whatever that means.

I thought I'd found a candidate for bad RIO and then I realised I liked what I was listening too!

Les Tueurs de la Lune de la Miel - Spécial Manubre!

They are what became The Honeymoon Killers.

However, if you've ever heard The Honeymoon Killers' Les Tueurs de la Lune de la Miel, you'll realise they sound quite different!

In fact, I'd say the album Spécial Manubre! is the sort of album I'd play people to give them an idea what avant-prog is.

It would also scare them completely away.

Now I thought Etron Four Leloublan's debut was weird... this is weirder!  I also though Ferdinand's En Avant was weird... this is weirder again!

This is a must hear album.  It's not for the faint of heart though... it's brash, humorous and often very enjoyable as well.

Listening to their self-titled one.  Don't worry, I'm very patient with music. Smile

I really love the airy, effortless vocals, but when it goes a bit 'noodly' I tend to lose interest. Embarrassed  However, with that sort of thing I have found in the past that it is a bit like looking at a pointillist painting.  At first it's all dots.  But after a while, you pick out shapes, etc.  Just... in sound, not pictures... er... excuse pseudishness, I haven't had a cup of tea yet...

I wouldn't say that discussing National Health is particularly off topic - In the UK there was always a fair bit of overlap between RIO and Canterbury, and their second album has John Greaves on bass.
 
As for the fantastic splendour of Present - Delusions (from A Great Inhumane Adventure) is playing as I type this and it's Censoreding magnificent!
 
(I must stop watching those Gordon Ramsay TV programmes Embarrassed).

It's definitely worth a listen. It's not that different from the last couple of Etron Fou albums, which is fine as far as I'm concerned.
