Glen Benton. The cross is still there too He's a madman. He even stated in an interview an ex wife of his had a restraining order put against him

I can't replace the lies that let 1000 days go.

Back then, we were pretty much about Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Death, and Maiden. Oh and I randomly bought Cynic in a record store in about 1996 because I thought the cover looked cool.

The only metal band that ever scared me on first impression was Cannibal Corpse. After I listened to their first album, I had nightmares for about 3 days straight.

At heart, I'm still about the classic Megadeth, 'Tallica, Maiden and Slayer records (I like all of Death's albums though ). That stuff is just kick ass to learn on guitar and I don't think there will ever be a time in my life where I don't like metal anymore.

Oh and obviously I was into DT at the time but no one else really was. Well, one of my friends thought "Pull Me Under" was good, it actually was played on the radio a bunch at the time!

Wow, is "Death Magnetic" actually a return to form?

Yeah, DT's only radio hit song I haven't listened to them much at all lately. I gave the Number Of The Beast Bootleg a listen recently, mainly for the purpose of writing a review for PA though, about 900 words on I think. Other than that, not much DT listening at all.

In a time when metal has moved forward so much in complexity and just general compositional excitement, a return to a late 80s style is not enough for me to justify buying the album. I would rather hear a band pushing the envelope than a band recreating the past.

It is, but I think it's just them trying to make another AJFA... The only difference being that DM, based on a few samples I heard, didn't blow me away. At all.

I heard the new Metallica stuff, it was not bad.. but that was it really, not bad. I wonder if they ever tour Aus again, I might actually go, especially if the set was their 80s stuff. Might even get to see Lars Ulrich stand up while playing drums so the crowd can see him better
