Nice comment from Trackstoni - I guess you're right - Progressive music is the best - doesn't matter where it comes from so long as it's good, eh (sorry for the cheese!)

Hey - maybe you Americans can get together and do some good new stuff

It seems that you want the prove about my opinion , posted few days ago in this thread !!!!  Well i have about 16600 proves regarding my post  about  ( british prog is the best ) . Its my 40 years strugling to give the progressive rock the right pair of shoes to walk in the hall of fame in the Middle East and the arab countries ,
and i'm proud to be one of the first three proggers in this spot of the earth . WE use to have in 1974 about 15
bands , playing blues , pop , jazz , and disco songs . and that's only in Lebanon ( population  3.7 million )
Today we have in Lebanon about 107 bands playing different kind of Progressive rock music . Some of them ( specially in Prog Metal genre ) are more than satisfying to me . Not to mention many other bands playing jazz - rock fusion , and blues - rock . This is only in Lebanon  . But we have 16 million lebaneses
immigrants around the world , and as an ex . pilot i knew this fact , they still believe in their origin , and they  are also productive in their new home lands . If you tell me Porcupine Tree is the best band in neo prog , i surely have so many other bands from different countries , i feel that they're better than P.T .
If you tell me that Mahavishnu orchestra is the best  band in Jazz - rock fusion , i surely have many other bands deserves , maybe the same recognition . So , during the last couple of months i was trying very hard to introduce for Progarchives one of the most talented Lebanese artists , Rabih Abou Khalil , he's living between Germany & France , and he's one of the best Jazz - Rock fusion in this century  . Why he's not available in Progarchives  . And to be honest in this review , i don't know this artist at all , but i knew all his works . This is one Example of what is missing in our world of progressive . Still , i'm not against the idea that said that British Progressive Rock is <<< ONE >>> of the best ///////////

Sorry, but Rush smokes all of those bands.  Not to mention our incredible post-rock artists (Pelican, Russian Circles, Isis).
[/QUOTE]

But that's just an opinion. I do agree with you on the fact that I enjoy Rush more than most of those bands.

Just to be the fly in the ointment I have to say that Rush, being a Canadian band, are still part of the British Commonwealth so there is a link with British prog .Wink
Seriously though  I do believe a lot of musical genres have started in Britain in the 'swinging London' days but I think it's a bit presumptuous to say 'British prog is the  Best.

Brit prog has the most texture both in music and lyrics, for me that's the best!
