Topic: chili peppers/ John Frusciante Posted: August 22 2008 at 17:39 |
I know the Red Hot Chili Peppers aren't prog, and I don't expect them to be on your website, but they deserve a special mention because John Frusciante's guitar work is awesome - man, that guy can play in so many styles.
Also, to his credit he is a Prog lover, and plays with the Mars Volta - need I say more?

Don't get it? Who you wanna include? RHCP or John Frusciante solo?
If it's RHCP, you've just said you weren't expecting them here, so it's not a quite valid entry, lol.
Who do you wanna include?? It's not clear..to me..

i could see John Frusciante being added, maybe under Prog-Related (for the Mars Volta), unless he has prog albums.
Which reminds me, does he HAVE solo albums? and if so, are they prog?
and i say NO to RHCP be added. They are one of my favorite bands, always have been, but they definitly do not belong here. I love Flea's bass tone and John Frusciante's guitar work, excellent music!

Yes - I agree RHCP should not be included - I just wanted them to have some respect by being mentioned somewhere in Prog archives. Lolly lolly lol lol lol I haven't heard any John Frusciante stuff (although am interested). so I'll reserve judgement just yet.

I agree ... John Frusciante is an awesome guitarist. But that has nothing to do with whether he can be added to the archives or not. It's not about quality - it's about the style of music of his solo albums.

John Frusciante has quite a few solo albums, but I've only heard "Shadows Collide With People". That one beats the crap of a lot of modern "prog" bands already in the Archives in terms of experimentalism, melody, and general quality. Based on that album alone, I could definitly see him in the Archives, just not sure which category. I would have to give his other albums a liten, though.
RHCP, however, no way in Hell.
