Maybe this has been all over the forum already but I'm an infrequent visitor these days and have just noticed that on the genesis-music.com official website it lists under Genesis' discography the long-awaited SACD/CD/DVD box set reissues of the Gabriel Years.

Genesis 1970-1975 - Genesis

Album Details:

TYPE: album
FORMAT: CD
LABEL: Virgin
RELEASE DATE: 2008.09.00
RELEASE COUNTRY: UNITED KINGDOM

It also says that once the 7th disc track lising is confirmed info will appear there.

Forgive if this has been discussed ad nauseum but I'm quite looking forward to these releases as the re-mixing of Trick of the Tail and Wind and Wuthering was awesome and the video material a real treat.

The Trick of the Tails footage was great but the Wind and Wuthering footage was garabge and and a real letdown....

Really? I don't remember disliking it.

I was disappointed with the bonuses on Abacab... but heck, I was disappointed with Abacab.

I was kind of disappointed with Duke because they didn't play the Duke Suite in its entirety. Seeing In the Cage was a big surprise though and it was pretty awesome.

Might seem a daft idea, but why dont they just bring out a nice DVD box set of classic Genesis stuff.

A bit like Led Zeppelin DVD, but not as bad as the Emerson, Lake and Palmer offering.

Looking forward to 3rd Genesis boxset spotlighting Peter Gabriel. Have the "Definitive Edition" remasters but am looking forward to hearing the CDs in a brand new way! Just one question: when will they released in the US? For what i know from the last two boxsets, the release days in the US are further  than the UK ones. If anybody knows the exact US release date, let me know

^^ 'When in Rome' was shown on British TV last weekend. I would hope that the DVD has more tracks, and better tracks than what was televised. Apart from a bit of 'Firth of Fifth' and 'I know what I like' it was all 80's hits, and an ammended version of 'Behind the Lines'

Many people complain about the compressed sound of the new remasters. I bought a few to test this myself, and indeed, they do sound quite nasty. However, I don't have a SACD player and I have read from a Nick Davis interview that the sound on the SACD layer is better. Is this true?

I think the bonus footage on Duke more than makes up for it
