That used to be my least favourite track on Still Life.

I love it a lot more now... it's possibly still my least loved track from that album (and having heard the BBC Maida Vale version doesn't help--it's a better version) but I think it's mostly due to the fact I've yet to take the lyrics in fully.

It was about his ex girlfriend who was a red head.

I also think I get frustrated 'cause I cannot sing along to it... and I always get the "Organ Grinder sceeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaams" part wrong. LOL

It's still excellent though.

My favourite tracks from Still Life, in order:

Still Life
My Room (Waiting for Wonderland)
Childlike Faith at Childhood's End
Pilgrims
La Rossa

Even mp3 versions (high quality, mind you) of these digital remasters are great, the sound quality on these albums is superb.  The piano on "My Room" is sounding so rich.

I wouldn't know, I own the CDs. Wink

You know, those silver discs?

You don't? Shocked

Oh... I thought everyone knew what CDs were. ShockedConfusedOuch

The sax solo on My Room is eargasmic, it makes me cry (just like the piano intro to Man-Erg). Big%20smile

That is *exactly* my list.

Godbluff (some correspondance, I predict):
Arrow
Sleepwalkers
The Undercover Man
Scorched Earth

Pawn Hearts (no correspondance, I bet):
APOLK
Lemmings
Man Erg

H To He, Who Am The Only One:
Lost
Pioneers Over c
House With No Door
The Emperor In His War Room
Killer

Least We Can Do Is Wave To Each Other:
Refugees
Whatever Would Robert Have Said
Out Of My Book
Darkness (11/11)
After The Flood
White Hammer

In other news, I've sacrificed any productivity for the rest of the summer by installing the original Medieval: Total War.

I like VDGG alright, but I can only listen to an album or two at once. After that, the albums tend to get worn a bit for me. Wink

I may have heard of them.  Mainly, though, I don't really think I have a "golden ear", so mp3s (at sufficient bitrate) are good enough for me.

Well, yeah, but they are all so incredibly awesome that the difference is mainly just because I can.

Anyway, off to go conquer someone. Playing as France, maybe, for irony value.

Speaking of games... which of the many versions of Age of Empires, is the one where there's a big back-history about all the races?  I remember when we had the demo version at College I spent a lot of time reading about the Hittites and stuff.

Do all versions have this history or was it one particular version?

This would have been about 1998 or so... I think it was AoE II: Rise of Rome
